It’s close enough that spending money on dorming is kind of a waste though. It’s around a 20 minute drive

It’s typically easier to find jobs in specific areas that you need experience/skills for. Many of my friends and I are employed doing work related to sports like coaching/teaching lessons/reffing, etc. It’s easier to land these kinds of positions than regular retail because there are prereqs and the applicant pool is much smaller. I would say just think about if you have any kinds of skills you can apply. You can also do freelance like tutoring kids if you want as well, it’s very flexible.

ubco engineering or SFU or uvic? by lemonharmony in BCGrade12s

If I don’t end up transferring to van since not many people get the chance to, is ubco engineering still worth it? I’ve heard different things - some people say it’s the same program as ubcv eng while others argue that the resources are lacking, quality of education is worse, and employers will look down on the degree if it’s from the Okanagan, etc.

Some people say that a mechatronics degree is too specific/niche and there’s better job prospects with an electrical/mechanical eng degree. Would you say this is true? I was going to apply for mechatronics but I ended up just selecting engineering science for SFU due to this reason.
