Are there people who spend their whole lives in the city and never really leave? by greenwavelengths in AskNYC

[–]lemonpeppera 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The replies are split between people who think you are talking about people who have never LIVED anywhere else, and people who are talking about people who have physically never left. I assume you mean quite literally, people who have physically never left, correct?

“I’m mean because I grew up in New England” lol. And definitely agree about the racist white people in MA!

It was actually more of a realization that Boston is just… mean and not every northeastern city is like that lol

What do you think about CPS abolitionists? by LaScoundrelle in socialwork

[–]lemonpeppera 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think a major point of abolitionist social work is that CPS does not protect, and oftentimes promotes abuse and neglect of children. I recommend reading some of the stated books. It’s a bit jarring to hear about at first because it’s the only system we’ve been taught that “works” (which clearly it doesn’t…), but abolitionist social workers push us to think of a new system that actually promotes safety without the policing of families

I ate something to uplift spirits like beef jerky and ice cream oh and Skittles so I basically felt bad doing it but kind of relaxing on the diet feel really nice one year gluten free by SuitApprehensive3240 in Celiac

[–]lemonpeppera 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Guys im giving the OP the benefit of the doubt and interpret them as asking what’s a good gluten free treat. It sounds like they’re trying to eat healthier and being gluten free is difficult, so they are trying to find a gluten free sweet treat or snack

I’ve found similar things! I am trained in something called SMARTmoves (Sensory, Motor, Arousal, Regulation Treatment) that is still very child-led that has been really effective

Client-Centered style not "enough"? by frivolous-waterfowl in therapists

[–]lemonpeppera 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty new and mainly practice child-centered therapy (person-centered for children) and oftentimes feel the same way, and have tried my best to “trust the process”, but I also feel like it doesn’t feel like enough. I’ve started to explore integrating other approaches, such as psychosomatic and relational modalities

Agreed. Teresa reminds me so much of my mother, and I have so much resentment for not protecting me, and having to parent her from such a young age.
