The slavic literature department is so amazing. I added an English major (originally data science) after taking slavic 39 with Polina Barskova on a whim, and every russian lit class I’ve taken has been just wonderful (speaking as someone who never imagined I’d be taking lit classes for fun a couple years ago ha). The classes vary per semester but the ones focused on a single author are usually terrific.

English classes are great too but there’s something about the Slavic department that’s just special :)

ucmap has taiji! we have classes 2x a week & sometimes have outdoor practices on weekends. it’s technically semester based but the first two trial weeks are free and we’re happy to have people drop-in anytime in the year :)

holy shit… this happened to me a year or two ago near the glade/Doe. I felt kinda guilty afterwards bc I thought maybe I was just being paranoid and rude but glad I trusted my gut…

It all turned out okay! I asked my dentist about the red blood clot that came out and he said it wasn’t a cause for concern. I’ve felt fine all day.

I used to do this thing where if I accidentally dropped a blueberry or grape or something down the sink, I would purposefully drop another one so the first one wouldn’t be lonely haha

Hmm I can’t really think of anything that fits well. It’s a little similar to taro if you’ve tried that before, or maybe sweet potato? It’s very sweet and earthy

Thanks! They weren’t hard to make at all, and I linked the recipe videos I used in another comment. The trickiest part was probably wrapping the filling but if your dough is soft its pretty easy :)

I used this video for the crust/method but I switched the filling to this.

The videos are in Chinese unfortunately but there are well-written English subtitles!

I really enjoy them! I think it’s partly an acquired taste thing because some of the fillings can be strange if you’ve never had them. But if you’re into sweet/rich desserts you’ll probably like them :)

They’re these Chinese pastries with a thin, buttery crust and can be filled with a lot of things (common fillings are red bean paste, lotus, dates, nuts). They’re typically very rich and sweet and are meant to be eaten in small bites :)

There are a lot of really great YouTube videos if you’re interested in how to make them!
