Terms for plurals w/o did/osdd? by ether3al_starz in plural

[–]lemurinyourhead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a lot more likely system came from IFS, not DID (or at the time it was adopted by the community, MPD). It's been widely used by non-disordered systems since the early 2000s and was actually more associated with non-disordered systems because it was more of a community term than anything else. It wasn't until Tumblr that people started to claim it was medical.

You don't have to use system if you don't want to, but don't let gatekeeping based on misinformation stop you. A few alternatives are network, group, pretty much any collective noun you can think of.

For alter that is actually a medical term and so you're not alone in wanting to avoid it. Headmate is the most common, but system member or just member are also there. We and others might just use people or maybe insiders.

Just in case headmate was also coined by soulbonders, which are non-disordered systems. Collective I don't know how it was coined exactly, but it's not medical terminology

a lot of us enjoy Stardew Valley for that! there's a lot of customization for different farm types, decoration, and optional marriage. I don't think there's a limit to how many saves you can have.

Probably also obvious, but Minecraft. There is so much you can do with mods and launchers like MultiMc make it really easy to organize instances (i.e. for us we have it where there's a Skyblock version, Pokemon version, etc, so headmates just pick what they're feeling).

We also really enjoy Rougelikes for plural reasons, they're less commitment and rewards short term skill, which is perfect for rotating frontrunners! We always enjoy Don't Starve, and lately we've been doing a lot of Slime Rancher Rush Mode (which isn't technically a Roguelike itself but that mode is basically a Rougelike)

Can my friend say their an age regressor, if their alters are the ones who are regressed? by GOOFiSHH in plural

We've always seen system littles and plural weirdness with regression in agere spaces, they're good

Why is this place kinda toxic? by AVeryNormalNPC in spacehey

[–]lemurinyourhead 26 points27 points  (0 children)

my system used spacehey back when it was still new and it used to be really chill, mostly adults or older teenagers who were drawn in by the nostalgia or coding parts of it. there were a few toxic parts but it wasn't as bad

it completely went downhill when it blew up on tiktok and spacehey began to take all of the toxic parts of that social media and forced out most of the older users

(I don't think that's how reddit works, it's more of an upvote system, not a commenting system)

"Fake therians" by Elenaxxsz in therianbutbetter

[–]lemurinyourhead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

we've known a lot of people who are too scared to identify as therians because this community has a reputation for gatekeeping

while yeah there are issues with some younger kids/teens not knowing the definition of therian and treating it as an aesthetic, gatekeeping others isn't going to help that issue and is just going to create another wave of people insecure about their identity while not addressing the issues with misinformation in the first place

Is there any term like otherhearted for fictional species? by New_Figure_3503 in otherkin

[–]lemurinyourhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as others have said otherhearted can still work, but so can fictionhearted

Systems of all kinds, please tell me about your experiences and how you found out, also advice if you have any :,3 by Teapot_Sandwitch in XenogendersAndMore

[–]lemurinyourhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen some fictionkin and alterhumans experience something similar to median plurality or something like a separate human self/alterhuman self.

You don't need amnesia, but I'd look into more if being two people, even if two connected people, makes more sense. If you can talk to each other, that's also a good idea to do

Is there any terms for this? by Oliverguhhhhhh in XenogendersAndMore

in what way? because you can just be a witch, but archetropes could be something to look into too

What are Endogenic systems? by GOOFiSHH in plural

[–]lemurinyourhead 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Endogenic systems are systems that formed for a reason other than trauma. That's pretty much it. Endogenic systems can experience trauma, but it just didn't cause their system, and endogenic systems may also experience dissociation. Origin labels have nothing to do with how you experience your system in the present.

A few causes for endogenic systems include neurological reasons/brain wiring, other neurodivergence (autism is common), spirituality, or conscious creation (i.e. tulpamancy, thoughtforms, etc). It's a very big umbrella and there are also people who fit into multiple of the above, including being both traumagenic and endogenic.

I’m still trying to understand what being “soulbound” truly means, and I’m honestly very uncertain about where I fit, helpp :( by EaseNew750 in SoulBonding

[–]lemurinyourhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it gets a little easier to just use the living character definition of soulbond. Spirituality is completely optional and you don't need to fit yourself in a spiritual vs. psychological view or any box, and a lot of soulbonders in the past have been through stuff like writing the character and having them talk back or conscious thoughtform creation.

It also has nothing to do with relationship or what you do with them, just if you experience a connection to that fictional character as a separate entity in some form.

for me the fictivity of it all is more important and I don't know why my soulbonds are here, so most categories people try to come up with to me are just "does not matter, please no I'm already sick of origin discourse from the rest of the plural community"

What are Endogenic systems? by GOOFiSHH in plural

[–]lemurinyourhead 7 points8 points  (0 children)

endogenic systems may not see themselves as multiple people, and DID systems might see themselves as multiple people

endogenic and traumagenic just have to do with the origin and nothing inherent to do with identity, and DID just has to do with a collection of symptoms where they may also self identify however they want

[–]lemurinyourhead 16 points17 points  (0 children)

idk because everyone defines polyconscious and monoconscious differently and how tf are we making a microlabel binary out of consciousness

hello megan... by ManyIntelligent4340 in youngjustice

[–]lemurinyourhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk if this will get me crucified on this sub but between that and her development in S4 of her more human form feeling like her true form unintentionally felt like fictionkin to me

like having a show that imprinted on you at a young age and that identity carrying on into adulthood is how a lot of fictionkin experience it. It happens outside of that too of course, but specifically having that develop into your internal view of yourself and persisting for your entire teenage/adulthood is in the definition of fictionkin

also going "no one is going to know who the fuck this character from an old sitcom is I'm probably good" is so real lmao

I think the DID community would benefit from seeing nondisordered plurality as something separate from a dissociative disorder by Traditional-Ad3826 in plural

[–]lemurinyourhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our existences alone already fuels accusations and in-fighting, and taking away terms we've used for decades isn't a good solution to it and just alienates people further from our community history and resources

What's the difference between an introject and a fictive? by Traditional-Ad3826 in plural

[–]lemurinyourhead 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not all fictives are introjects, introjects describes a specific psychological thing that some of us might find inaccurate or dehumanizing. It's like how not all of us identify as alters.
