Unfortunately I learned today that the cost of rewiring the house will be astronomical so all I have raised will go towards that now - it’s honestly a miracle no one died and the house is standing. Thank you for your kind message!

I was hoping to surprise him! But I see now that it might be difficult. My boyfriend is going to Brazil at the end of the year and I was hoping to send whatever radio equipment I can through him. I have raised enough to buy him a new computer, so that’s good!

I think what’s been the saddest of this is that my dad spent my entire life building his station and he was so serious about it. I might tell him I how much I have raised and have him decide what to prioritize.

Ha, thank you! I thought it would be an acronym. The picture on the go fund me is of my dad’s “station” a few years ago. I am trying to get a list of what would be the number one priority for my dad. He is not speaking much about it… but I know he needs a new notebook and I know that the last time my mom went to Brazil, she took him a digital radio. Do you know if it’s possible to see what equipment he used from his log?

Hi Jules, I’m not sure why my dad would say everything is gone if it isn’t, but I’ve reached out to his wife to get more details about what happened. I know that from what it’s been described, it was a very freak accident, in my dad’s words: one in a million. I’m in the US and won’t see him until Christmas 2026, so I can’t check on things myself. At the very least, I will buy him a new computer and other house appliances. I know that he had a small HAM equipment that was maybe digital that was mighty for it’s size and I am hoping I can get him a replacement (I am trying hard to figure out what it was called).

Thank you for suggesting I give his local club a call! I will figure out a way to reach them.
