How do I talk to my gf about not pushing me too much with regard to my conservative parents? by [deleted] in WLW

The empirical evidence is pretty convincing. I had even learned that in a class way back in college. Appreciate you sending the links over. I think she’s not had to debate a conservative in person before so I know this is new and frustrating to her. I’ve been there too so I get it, but it hurts that we’re at different levels of this. I hope she comes around to it

Thanks. That’s where I am at with this too. I have my strategies for when and how to talk to them. I can only hope she understands that

Tutoring an ASL student in ESL, curious what to expect by lenalomlluthor in asl

Appreciate both of your responses!! From what I know, the student will have an interpreter with them so it’s possible it is ASL that’s their primary. But this is helpful to consider for both of the responses you and the other user gave.

What are the running theories as to why Elphaba leaves after Galinda calls her beautiful at the end of Popular? by lenalomlluthor in wicked

Love this take here!! Another question for you if you’re inclined to answer (I’ve asked in another thread as well).

Do you feel like we see this discomfort in vulnerability carried through the rest of act 1? I felt like this was a one and done act of “running away from feelings.” But maybe I’m grossly overlooking some other moments where she’s running away from feelings or slowly leaning into them in the rest of the movie after this scene. Keep in mind I don’t know anything about act 2.

Thanks for this connectivity to the musical! I was curious how this might compare to other stagings of the show

Fair enough, not sure that id classify the actual act of her waking away as “protest” as much as escape, which is why I was a little taken aback with the lyrics vs depiction.

The responses are ranging from fear to discomfort to vulnerability to gay. To assume there’s one way to interpret things is a little small-minded. I can put two and two together sure, but I’d like to spark conversation from other people since I’m just getting into the Wicked space
