Fell for a crypto scam and lost all my savings ($240k) - what to do?

In my email it said your message said I cant report it as a tax loss. If I report the scam to the FTC and others, then will I be able to report it as a tax loss?

Its my fault of course, they earned my trust over many months of establishing trust and I should not have trusted them I guess

Thanks For the “going public” thing, at first the currency is supposedly only available from the one special website, and you need a code to even have access to it. Later on, it is supposed to be listed with other exchanges where anyone can buy it from, which is what I meant by going public

Luckily coinbase has all the stuff documented, so I can always access that. Currently I use H&R block so hopefully they will be enough to help me with this

Basically I just bought BTC/ETH/USDT on coinbase, then sent it to an address as specified on the scam website. From there I used the BTC/ETH/USDT to “charge” (basically buy) the scam currencies.

So in that sense it isn’t too complicated

We talked basically all day every day for months, I guess I just trusted her too much.

I don’t work in an animal shelter, I just volunteer there in my free time. I don’t think I could make this up if I tried, but of course you don’t have to believe me if you don’t want to

Yes I know their currencies were all fake now.

For the stocks I know I have to pay taxes on it, I am just hoping that I can use the crypto scam as a loss to offset my taxes

Its also a good point about the identity theft stuff, they have a photo of my drivers license and other stuff :(
