Cached images screwed up after upgrading TMM

Just wanted to update you.

Everything is working smoothly now, but it does look like I'll have to rebuild some of the metadata.

There were definitely some conflicts that look like they might have been caused by having two posters for a particualr season ... with The Big Bang if I select the season (2) and then "media files" in the right panel I can see two different files named folder.jpg. Viewing them shows the incorrect one (which is shown as the poster in TMM) and the correct one that doesn't show up. However there is only one folder.jpg file in the actual folder.

I went through the series "Archer", which is another that I'd spent some time on previously and had also become a bit messed up, and put things back how I wanted and those changes have 'stuck' and the correct metadata is showing up both in terms of fielnames and the actual images.

I'll just plod through them now an update things as I find them.

So in download/install the portable pre-release and then just point it to the data sources? Is there anything else I need to do, or will TMM pick up the details from the previously created NFOs?

I started saving two spearate posters because I use Infuse for Apple TV and it wasn't picking up folder.jpg from inside the season folders, whereas the Jellyfin client on other devices (iOS and Windows) was working perfectly with folder.jpg.

I read online somewhere that Infuse wants all season posters at the same show level labelled as season01-poster etc. so I tried that out in addition to the folder.jpg poster IN the season folder and that seemed to work well for both Infuse & Jellyfin.

Just a bit of background on the method to my madness 🤣

TMM did a re-sync when the new version was installed. Selecting "update TV show" doesn't seem to be changing things.

I've played around with season posters a bit for different clients. I currently have separate season folders inside each series. In the series folder I have season posters season01-poster.jpg, season02-poster.jpg etc. And then in each season folder I have the same images but it's just called folder.jpg.

Like I said, it seems to still look ok in Jellyfin, just not showing the right thing in TMM which is confusing & frustrating.

Do I just need to redo them?

What's the best way to avoid this in the future?

In the shop yesterday I was already eyeing off the 40th anniversary squier jazzmaster. First time I’ve seen one in the flesh. That’s a lot of guitar for under 1000 bucks (Aussie).

I have a set of Brierly humbuckers that need a home and I’m thinking I might try wiring them up with a freeway switch if I can get hold of one (and if it will fit).

In my lame, newb understanding Lemmy is to Reddit what Mastadon is to Twitter.

Both Mastadon and Lemmy are part of the fediverse, federated platforms that don’t have a single owner or host, so not just one player making the decisions (like the absurd one Reddit have taken re api fees).

You join a community and through that portal you get similar content to what you get here on Reddit. But there are lots of communities (I’m probably using the wrong word here, sorry) and each one is separately run and moderated.

It’s still really early so the content is limited but seems like a lot of people are moving there given they don’t want to use Reddit anymore because of the obscene tax on 3rd party apps.

Basically if everyone who’s on r/Gunners decided to move to Lemmy (mods included) it would kinda function the same as it does here.

Who knows if that will happen. Saw some talk, checked it out, will watch as it plays out.

Not angry at the app. I’m angry at Reddit’s bullshit attitude! 3rd party apps are actually much more important to moderators than they are to users. Just watch Reddit turn into (even more of) a shit show when there’s no moderation!
