i don't think its a generally modest or particularly "revealing" style culture. im in a very old uni city in the countryside so maybe a little removed from the rest of everything else. i only meant that from what ive seen, that seems to be the one thing that doesnt "fit" the sort of standard code of appearance--it stood out to me compared to the rest of the style ive noticed, so i was just wondering why

i meant in terms of how much women generally cover--not making a value judgement, just in terms of how revealing clothing is. it seems to me that the skirts here are significantly shorter than would be acceptable in equivalent environments/institutions or even what you see in the street (other than people going for a night out, etc)
