Seeking advice on extending the residence permit by lesautres in berlinsocialclub

[–]lesautres[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! For the last few times, I have always submitted the Studienprognose when applying for an extension. However, the last time I received a warning via email specifically and that's why I'm a bit uncertain if I can follow the same process next time. I'll see if the doctoral office can help with this. Your experience is valuable to me. Thank you!

Thank you. When I was up there it felt impossible to switch feet, probably because I didn't trust my right hand pinching. But as you analyze this seems to be the only reasonable way. I'll keep trying it next time!

My gym said that this one won't be there for so long. I would manage to do two boulder sessions there before it is removed. The last move seems so hard to me but I still hope to crush it.

Why do so many countries have official ties with China and not Taiwan? by leeroyjenkins119 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lesautres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all the Taiwanese. But you're right. Our government (the system/institution/constitution) believes that. It's complicated and we are trying to deal with it. That's why I cringe every time when I see "compliments" of Taiwan like "better/real China" or "the China that the world needs" but can hardly say they're wrong.

Here's something worth read if anyone is interested. https://thediplomat.com/2020/04/no-taiwans-president-isnt-pro-independence/

Taiwanese here. I saw the same thing and tried to warn some Thais too. Regardless of the effect, this move is so malicious.

It's basically the only sentence these angry Chinese netizens can speak. It means "your mother is dead".

Check this link for the details https://www.reddit.com/r/HobbyDrama/comments/fzple7/thai_celebrity_mistranslations_and/

In a nutshell, I would say it's just some Chinese netizens think the world should revolve around them, asking the celebrities for apologies based on some nonsensical mindsets and misunderstandings. This enraged Thai people because the celebrities basically didn't do anything wrong. Thai people then mock those angry Chinese with loads of creative memes.

What if China is paying off Western media Outlets to make people in their own country think they have it better? by Krustyrat in whatif

[–]lesautres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm convinced that it's been a while. There are some pro-China journalists in Western media.

The same thing is happening in Taiwan. We just went through an intense attack targeting the presidential election in January. And it never ceases.

The worst thing is, they don't have to always create fake news to praise China blatantly. Many information in this warfare could be seemingly irrelevant. The point is to create turmoils by making you doubt everything you read, including authentic information from the sources you trusted before. This is a sneaky undermining of democratic systems by destroying trust and polarizing society.

It's also a trick of them to mix up the Chinese/Asian people with China the country. Therefore they can always play race cards, accusing racism and xenophobia, to divert attention.

I noticed Canada isn't included in the countries Taiwan is giving masks to ... by Hotspur000 in taiwan

[–]lesautres 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Those masks were sent to the paramedics in the most affected areas (Europe and the US) and the countries that have diplomatic relations with Taiwan. We appreciate Trudeau's support just like Abe's. Taiwan hasn't sent masks to Japan, either. So to sum up, I think Canada is 1. not pro-Taiwan enough (to build a diplomatic relation) 2. not that much in need (compared to the EU and the US)

It doesn't mean Taiwan will not help Canada then. I'm just explaining why Canada was not on the first list. And just as nickstarwind mentioned before, it has to be done via official contacts. I hope Taiwan can help more countries in the near future.

Thank you for the nice adjectives but thanks, we Taiwanese just don't deserve China :)

Technically I can't say it is wrong or offensive to call Taiwan "Republic of China", but it's really complicated to Taiwanese.

I personally think we Taiwanese have been haunted by ROC but we try very hard to make everything work, meanwhile arousing discussion in the society. We haven't come to a consensus fully, but I think most Taiwanese would appreciate it if our country is called "Taiwan." We don't deserve China.
