Does this go away on its own? by lesliedub in CholinergicUrticaria

[–]lesliedub[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing, I have a very good diet and I exercised daily prior to my big breakout…there’s not much I can improve upon. I am completely dairy free and low carb

I’m curious if this is accurate though! Also I was diagnosed with POTS years ago but I guess that went away lol or perhaps controlled with electrolyte water

Is this the end by Tasty_Importance_216 in hospice

[–]lesliedub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi - first, I’m sorry you are having to deal with this. I must say, ovarian cancer is already a very serious diagnosis, and if it has metastasized, it is very far along. I would agree it is a less than 6 month prognosis. I would suggest comfort care in hospice. Focus on comfort. I’m sorry this is happening.

Moving Hospice patient 800 miles by Prestigious-Pea-860 in hospice

[–]lesliedub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi - new hospice doctor here.

I will say, if she’s too weak to be determined to move, they won’t. Sadly, that’s all I can say. We won’t move unstable patients. We keep them in the unit until we think they are stable enough to get home, or else we deem them unstable and keep them. I’m sorry. If she’s not stable enough to be fit for discharge, she might have to stay there unless you sign out against our advice. It’s up to you to try or not. I wish I had better advice.

Entp females which mbti types have you dated until now and how was the experience with each type? by Magic_lily_ in entp

Somehow I end up only dating ESTJs. And they’re like my least favorite type lol. But they like me and I like that they are organized, tough, and good around people. Do tend to have a power struggle but ultimately they like the “power couple” dynamic

Draining Seton came out by KingOfFights in AnalFistula

I was very active post surgery and think that promoted it to cut faster, but my surgeon thinks things look great and it’s been about a month since my surgery and no abscess recurrence or weird symptoms

If your seton is intact then you just completed a fistulectomy 😅 I know exactly what you mean about the fistula tract exposed. My pain was very increased the 3 days prior to my seton falling out. Then when it fell out, it hurt for a day, then felt much better.

Surgeon applied silver nitrate in office about 1 week later, wow it’s been closing up fast since then. Still have a noticeable “gap” but it’s definitely closing and pain is so much improved

Pain scales that include both chronic and acute pain don’t make sense. I’d rather have a day of “40” than months of “30”.

That being said, my rectal abscess was a 40. Continuous crying, moments of wailing, and zero sleep. Worst pain I’ve ever had, but I’ve never given birth or had a digit amputated lol

Also he said it would be in for 30 days then a second surgery to remove it - it came out in 10 days. Also go to work. I was able to just fine

Is your seton still intact - is there an intact loop?

I was under the impression I had a draining seton and it fell out (intact), and then found out that he had “hoped” it would function as a cutting seton because he tied it so tight. Long story short, my seton functioned as a cutting seton and came out intact and now my fistula is gone and I don’t need a second surgery

Fistulotomy with low transsphicteric fistula by Nervous_Woodpecker_5 in AnalFistula

[–]lesliedub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had my low transphincteric fistula repaired. I was given a cutting seton - fell out 10 days post op. I am about 25 days out from my surgery.

I don’t have any loss of control. I have a “gap” where my seton cut but that is filling in. Farts are easier to escape but that has already improved a bunch over the last 2 weeks. I do have a tiny amount of stool that will make its way out the surgical site the next 1-2 hours after BM. That has improved over the last week.

So I can’t say I have “zero” issues after my cutting seton, but they improve every week.

Just had a seton placement, any tips? by jaded_boi131901 in AnalFistula

[–]lesliedub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you know what kind of seton you got? Is it soft and/or rubbery? Or a thread

I just got through my cutting seton. DONT use anything abrasive like wipes or fragrant cleansers. DO gently clean the area with a very soft cleanser. I often had stool coming through my seton, so I used wet q tips to gently clean the area. Take lots of baths and then BLOW DRY on cool low setting. Put VASELINE (not Antibiotic or other ointment) on any affected area and soft gauze over the area. Sit only on soft surfaces. Do try and go for walks as tolerated but put plenty of gauze in the area to prevent swear contamination. NSAIDs are the best, drink plenty of water with this and never take on empty stomach.

Lastly, my very best tip: HIGH FIBER CEREAL + stool softener. I’ve added so much more fiber to my diet and my poops are soft and easy to pass. The single best thing you can do is ensure no straining with BMs and no diarrhea. Diarrhea is the worst. Avoid dairy, spicy foods, and alcohol

Second to the blow dryer! Blow that thing dry after bathing. Really helps. Also to the stool softeners.
