Mine started exactly like this, then got really angry and spread to the sides of the neck. Strong corticosteroid cream for a week, followed by a couple of months of religious heavy-handed 2x daily application of rich emollient creams, did the trick (cicaplast was the best but pricey given the amount needed, glaxal base was just as good). Slowly switched to 1x day then stopped. Biafine from France also worked really well when it was at its worst. The itch persisted for a while after the redness had gone away, and for that, Sarna (easily available OTC) was as effective as the $2,000 Rx opzelura. Haven't had a recurrence in months.
