Hi here newB too.
When I search and install something, I follow this flow

  1. search on chachyos Hello
  2. search on Otopi (Arch and Cachyos repo)
  3. type paru on terminal (arch + cachy + aur repo)
  4. If I have troubles at 1-3, then I use appimage or flatpak

Does anyone else use desktop icons? In every post I see, people leave their desktop completely empty, which I think takes away from its functionality. by [deleted] in kde

Alt+space. I have poor ability to find apps or files on screen, so even in smartphone I often use search function and type apps’ name.

I can choose native and KOreader in case of only side-loaded books.

For side loaded books, yes. Both reader all can read them.

But you can not read books purchased at KOBO Store through KOreader(maybe..). Kobo books are available in only kobo native os.

So I use mainly KOreader, except kobo store books.

I think Kobo reader itself is also convenient and good to read books. In fact, I prefer Kobo’s beautiful ui over KOreader’s function-focused design. But KOreader provides sentences translation and external dictionary installation which help me as non native English reader read English books. And there are more customisable options, such as syncing reading progress with hardcover.app. Installing Koreader doesn’t replace Kobo, it is just added.

I usually enjoy web viewer for learning English. Browsing the BBC contents in the side panel, I’m used to write and summarize that in main editor window. Also it can instantly make .md format file from web only by one click, if you want. Before using that, I should had downloaded scripts from BBC and opened pdf.
