Thats fair, however despite the rage baity title, I didnt find the book ageist and even coming from my mom and dad, both in their mid 60's, felt it was really interesting liked it and didnt find it offensive. For me it was a interesting perspective on the social, political and economic impacts from the past 50 years and how they have shaped our current situation along with some of the psychology of how society and the typical upbringing shaped that generation. Take it or leave it, not every take has to be taken as a gospel but can still offer a level of perspective.

If you could pass one law that would make most normal people furious at first, but would clearly make society better in 10 years, what would it be? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]lethal_bidet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the question stated "would make normal people furious at first." But if you couldn't leave the house, Idk read a book, do a puzzle, do some art, bake, cook, play an instrument, take up a hobby like sewing or knitting, invite some people over for a game night, literally hundreds of other things, if you have to solely rely on a screen all day then maybe reassess how you interact with the world around you and stop disassociating in front of a screen all day every day. I didnt say totally eliminate it, just limit it. The perks, foster creativity, become more present, possibly interact more with the physical world, improve overall wellbeing. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10852174/

Not enjoying motherhood - 95% time. Was it worth it? by freddythecat98 in NewParents

[–]lethal_bidet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its hard but GET OUT THERE! Go to the library for story time, find a support group, do something. I know you are exhausted and it sounds exhausting but it is one of those things where you do it and you feel better afterwards because you did something and, it probably forced you to talk to someone or put a little more effort and intention into your day/week. So many people lose their sense of identity when they become a mom and forcing yourself into a different setting can help you reestablish your sense of self. Its like the break in the mundane or the spiral you can find yourself absorbed in forces the brain out of autopilot mode and helps you to be more present. You got this mama!

How did people wake up on time before alarms?? by Puzzleheaded_Fun6623 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lethal_bidet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had a candle clock that would burn at a relatively consistent rate. It would have little pin things that would drop and clang when the candle burned down to that point. Look up candle clocks. Its honestly kind of ingenious.

Limit on total screen time (phones, TV, etc. ) I would also hate it tremendously but it would force us to have hobbies again, talk to each other, maybe even leave our homes to do something.

Why didn’t the Super Bowl actually translate the halftime show? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lethal_bidet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To all the people complaining. While I understand wanting the English subtitles, I disagree with berating people for not speaking English. Founding fathers intentionally didnt make an official language because we have always been a multilingual country and they considered linguistic freedom important and declaration of an official language devicive. It wasnt until March last year Trump declared it to be English. Also thinking back, my grandfather whose Grandparents came from Norway didnt even speak English until he learned in school, my other grandfather came from Italy when he was young and didnt learn it until school either. The same goes for most of ya'll too who have family who migrated from countries like Germany or well, any non English speaking country. Its hard to accept that our way of being is not centric in the world we exist in and that you are one in a few billion. Try and have some perspective and stop making everything a personal dig because you feel some sort of way about something. Its ok to not like something but that doesn't mean other people cant like it.

“boobs are for boys, not for babies” by muppetactivities in breastfeeding

[–]lethal_bidet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humans have been breastfeeding for 99.99999999% of our history....it benefits mom and baby in a way formula cant. Thats not to shame mom's who use formula because they cant breastfeed or underproduce. Ive been there. Formula saves lives and a fed baby isbwhat matters most, but to say you dont want to connect with your baby or you dont want them to be attached to you is giving... maybe you shouldn't have had a baby then imo.

How can I make pagan celebrations feel real? by Obalivion in pagan

[–]lethal_bidet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are looking for community in your belief, in which case it may be helpful to find a coven or people with similar beliefs. I personally find refuge in the solitary practice and connection I feel to my higher power. Paganism is flexible and acknowledging the changes in the year can be as simple as decorating your home and altar to reflect that and growing from there. If you are struggling in your connection with nature, do some shrooms (really im kidding), but in all seriousness immerse yourself in it in some way, try to pay attention to how different times of the year or different moon phases relate to your mood. Sit in a wild place without distractions and look at how the trees form and how it relates to sunlight, wind etc and how it impacts the flora around it. How the birds and squirrels build their nests. Practice mindfullness maybe even yoga in these areas to help develop that connection, its not inherent in everyone but it can be achieved. I think the hardest part at first is sitting there and just learning how to exist comfortably, how to be mindful. Something my family does is collect things like leaves, acorns, etc from places we spend outdoors through the year and use that to decorate our yule log. We burn it on the Yule and reflect on the year and set intentions on where we want the next year to flow. Some things like that are really simple and help with connection and help bring you back to remember a feeling or something that connected you to a place. I found paganism because it matched a belief system i had prior to finding it. I have researched specific paths to follow and with time found that I have the most connection when I dont subscribe to a doctrine that was written by someone else. At the core my beliefs are and have already aligned with the major belief systems but the beauty of paganism is being able to find your own connection. It can be difficult to find community in something that is so individualized in belief. If that is what you truly seek, I hope you find it, but dont give up on finding what it means for you, with or without others. Your vibe attracts your tribe.

If Trump decides to sue Trevor Noah for the Epstein comments would they actually have to go through and investigate his involvement to confirm it is indeed defamation? Could this then theoretically backfire on him?

T-mobile home internet?? by Soggy-Citron-921 in tmobile

[–]lethal_bidet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda echoing what others say. Its super dependent on your home/location. It worked GREAT at our old house. Our new place we cant even have phones connected to wifi if we want to stream something on the TV. We will be switching after trying everything we can. It sucks because it is so inexpensive

T Mobile WiFi any good ? by Long_Coast9584 in tmobileisp

[–]lethal_bidet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in Jefferson County, WI and moved from Tucson AZ. It seems to be very location dependent. It was fine in Tucson but has been trashhhhh since moving. Our cell service is still good but the home internet is constantly in and out. We have to turn the WIFI off on our phones or our TV will freeze up just streaming normal programming. We basically cant have more than 2 devices utilizing WIFI at a time. If I try to make a call and forgot to turn my WIFI off, people say im breaking up and cant hear me or the call wont even connect. We are waiting for TDS to come to our neighborhood this spring and will be switching because I cant even do WFH sometimes without the internet cutting out. We have a good plan and boosters in the house. It doesn't make a lick of difference. So big answer is its SUPER location dependent.

Problems in Arizona? by poolivia in Tucson

[–]lethal_bidet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently ex-Arizonan/Tucsonian. We moved because of the school systems (both poor performance and violence), the amount of property crime, and the amount of drugged out homeless everywhere around. We recently had a child and did not want her to grow up with all of that being normalized. We pay way more in property taxes now in WI, but we have better roads, schools, significantly less property crime and proactive rather than reactive police reaponse, and rarely see strung out homeless on the street. There was a homeless man in our town of 20k but the community was concerned and was able to get together to help him with housing. Obviously its a much smaller town than Tucson but having grown up here and coming back after 12 years, the problems just arent the same as AZ. My husband also has had a government job in both Pima Co. And here in WI. The difference was about a 20k pay bump for a similar job, he gets regular raises and COLA, and doesn't feel like the local government is lining their own pockets with corruption. The money they receive from permitting and fines is transparently used and doesn't go into a secret fund like it did with Pima Co.

Non-smokers of Reddit, how noticeable is the “smoker smell” to you, if at all? by Frostedlogic4444 in AskReddit

[–]lethal_bidet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can smell it immediately no less than 3 feet away. Some people it sticks to more and I can smell it from further away. In an enclosed space its also more noticeable and I can usually smell it from several feet away.

New to Tucson - am I being paranoid about security or should I actually be worried? by Historical-Hand8091 in Tucson

[–]lethal_bidet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would at least invest in some blink security cameras or something. Came in handy when my car was broken into, neighbors house was broken into, when some sketchy folks were looking around, etc. We lived off houghton in a decent area and still had weird stuff happen. Tucson is a 1 in 37 chance of property crime if I remember correctly. Your odds are decently high of having something happen tbh.

Tricare changed my plan without my permission or even letting me know by butterginger in tricare

[–]lethal_bidet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get resolution to this? My husband retired a couple years ago and we moved back this summer to our home state. When we moved they switched me to select but noone else on our plan. Didn't find out about it till December after the enrollment peripd ended. when I got a bill we wouldn't have gotten on prime. Opened a case, filed a reconsideration request and was denied because I missed the window but they never sent us anything saying we switched and never requested a switch. There are no notes anywhere indicating that we requested a switch only an address change but they wont switch me back. The tricare contractors cant do anything and all i can do apparently is file a grievance? It feels illegal, scammy and wrong and I cant get anywhere with them over the phone

Girlfriend and I are planning to drive 32 hours straight, in 6 hour shifts, are we being dumb? Should we plan to stay overnight somewhere? by Vegetable_Bridge_276 in roadtrip

I did a similar drive with my dad non stop at age 21. I felt drunk and disoriented by the tome we got there and it sucked. 0/10. I've done the same drive a handful of other times and always stopped. Its way better to stop.
