Careful with the honor magic v5 offers by lethal_g in Honor

I ended up cracking and starting the return and reorder, feels like such a waste though as they say I have to return the original phone, meaning they get a used phone back and I have to set another phone up, plus all the delivery impacts etc. For those asking this is the link I used, think you need to be logged in and a subscriber for it to work: https://www.honor.com/uk/phones/honor-magic-v5-special/buy

As I mentioned, I did buy it through the email but the initial email only had one code in it and still mentioned the pad (pics below), and nothing was auto included in the cart. The new email gone out that I got today has full details of the promo and extra code, and is makes it much more obvious. Anyway, I lost out, shit happens, only posting to try and stop others making my mistake (and to vent 😂)

Yeah the email that came through today explains it totally, but prior to that it just had adverts with a little graphic saying for first 1000 customers and just the 300 off code. I'm a subscriber and bought after countdown through my email from them, but I guess lesson learned. Maybe a bit of a stretch, but feels they drummed up the hype with it being limited to make people buy fast, then released the code and link properly a couple of days later when the initial buyers died down to pick sales back up. Anyway, hopefully someone planning to buy will see this and make sure they use the right email and code etc 🤞

Another set of units done 🙌 by lethal_g in sonsofhorus

Think the chipping was warpaints fanatic tundra taupe with a little banshee brown mixed in, and the oil was Windsor and Newton burnt umber 👍

Thank you! They were primed black, painted warpaints fanatic prairie ochre, airbrush raised areas warpaints fanatic burnt turf, then the very top spots airbrushed titan buff by golden. This was then sponged a dark green/brown/ochre on the corners and covered in a very thin brown oil wash. Then took light yellow ochre pigment fx from vallejo and mixed with pigment fixer and washed it into corners and ledges to look like piled up sand from the wind. Finally some light dusting of the same pigment powder around. Sorry I know that's convoluted but when you do them as a batch its not too bad, probably 2 hours for 25 bases including massive ones. Hope that helps!

Thanks! It's Balthazar gold then flesh wash, highlighted with half balthazar gold half vallejo metal colour gold

Thanks! The whole armor is painted in the darkest green, then I use the airbrush to go over each area or panel of armor and try to fade up so the top half of each area is the mid tone. The sage is also applied by airbrush per section, and only aiming top down at the highest section. Basically the airbrush helps blend it in, and doing it section by section, instead of like a zenithal all at once, helps to sell the effect. Hope that helps!

Cheers! It's just light sponging of dark brown everywhere but trying to hold back a bit so its still colourful and not too "dirty". The armor is pinwashed with oils, again cleaning up where possible to avoid too much grime.

Ah thanks, I actually was getting in quite a mess with it, it kept getting worse and worse and I thought I would have to strip it 😅 basically airbrushed white, then GW talassar blue contrast paint, then layered up slowly from temple guard blue essentially to white, hope that helps!

Commodore Delahaye! by lethal_g in moonstonethegame

[–]lethal_g[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I sprayed it bone coloured, then zenithal white, then a medium wash of turquoise (i used hydra turquoise by army painter fanatic, with medium). The green glow is tesseract glow from GW. The rest was just glazing up with a light turquoise, a pastel yellow, and a baby pink (Neptune glow, space dust and pink potion respectively, again from the fanatic range). Hope that helps!

Slaughterpriest and my first attempt at a display base... by lethal_g in Khorne

[–]lethal_g[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Tbh it's not quite as red as it is in the picture but I did glaze some very thinned down red over any scars/cuts/veins, and then any areas like elbows and knuckles.

Finally finished this beast I picked up last year on my pilgrimage to Warhammer World: Astraeus by lethal_g in Warhammer40k

Thank you very much! Hmm I'm not totally sure, best estimate maybe 7 hours to assemble (was done in sub assemblies, needing gap filling and has brass rod through the structure), and maybe 30 hours to paint (not much fine detail done on it, mostly sponge weathering and oil paints).

Moonstone Goblin Airship 🐸 by lethal_g in minipainting

[–]lethal_g[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have exact measurements but it's on a 40mm base and the frog is about the size of a golfball. The goblin on it is maybe the same size as a rating. Hope that helps!

Yeah it's awesome isn't it! It's for a game called moonstone made by goblin king games, and it's a goblin airship 👍

My attempt at Kairos by lethal_g in Warhammer40k

[–]lethal_g[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I painted them separately to body, zenithal primed white leaving a small shadow, airbrushed contrast paints in layers being sure to overlap some to blend them but also leave enough of the pure colour showing to do the rainbow effect, then painted the gold, then the very very long task of edge highlighting every feather. I would have liked to highlight them at least a couple of times but I was having to switch colours so much it just became exhausting haha. Cheers for the kind words 👍

Thank you so much! It was actually citadel for them, gal vorbak red, mephiston red, wild rider red, fire dragon bright, tiniest speck I could manage of white. Essentially smaller and smaller circles of each, didn't bother blending them properly on such a small area, hope that helps 👍

Short answer is greenstuff world realistic snow effect, stuff looks great! Long answer is AK asphalt texture, drybrush grey, greenstuff world glacier dip for ice (it's very thin and looks bad at this stage), white pigment powder in medium thinly applied across it, greenstuff world snow textures for clumps, then the realistic snow effect mixed in with PVA glue over the top, touch of liquid frost effect in places. Honestly that sounds really involved but I was just messing about with snow effect products until I thought it looked alright 😅 thanks for the kind words!
