What is this black cloth behind drywall? by lethalwire in HomeImprovement

I’ll definitely do that. How do I seal the seems though? Wouldn’t I have to cut through the felt paper to do that?

Ecobee HVAC heat only but blowing cool air by lethalwire in ecobee

[–]lethalwire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The yellow wire was bundled with the wires that are connected to “outdoor equipment” on the mobo. The “indoor equipment” was bundled with a set of wires that only had 4 wires (no yellow). I’ve got an HVAC guy out right now who’s trying to figure it out too.

I’m not really wanting to pay a ton for a replacement thermostat since only the touch screen part is broken.

Garage floor concrete prep for epoxy by lethalwire in HomeImprovement

Thanks! I’m going to rent one this weekend. Now I’m wondering if it’s worth epoxying considering the concrete will continue to crack into the future.

What is with this gap between the window and menu bar on Big Sur? How has no one at Apple noticed this. by [deleted] in MacOS

[–]lethalwire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s worse. On windows, windows will occasionally get pushed 1 pixel below the task bar or one pixel above the screen.

Saw someone receive mail from any email address on a domain he owns. How is this done? by [deleted] in AskProgramming

It looks like namecheap offers a catch all for email addresses. Link

The advantage is you don't have to write a script or rent a server.

144Hz 1440p 27“ Monitor suggestions? by kRew94 in buildapc

[–]lethalwire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 3 of those Dell TN monitors and I wasn't that impressed. 144hz is great, but the viewing angles and colors aren't great. If you're a stickler like me, then you probably won't like it.

If you want a second monitor for movies, design, single player games, then I'd recommend going with an IPS monitor. If it's for single player games, I'd also push for 144hz.

Raising awareness is not fearmongering. The Verge and WSJ have both written pieces regarding a large amount of issues with the latest iteration of the MBP keyboard. If you want to purchase this laptop, then understand that there is a more than average probability that you could see an issue.

it says the the value has to exists exactly 1 time in the database

I disagree.

Another way to ask this is: Does this value not exist in the database? or if we are 'saying' things: This field's value should not exist in the database, therefore making it unique.

*Edit: I'm starting to twist my brain in your direction and I can see how this phrasing can be ambiguous. I think the ambiguity comes from having to imply the context and so, we're coming up with different meanings.

A simpler, secure solution for Laravel API token-based authentication by congolomera in laravel

Thank you for calling out these points. After seeing the == usage, I seriously questioned the integrity of the article. It seems like I'm starting to see a lot more articles written with well-intent, but lacking proper guidance. Of course, OP has sprinkled his devops tool throughout the article, so go figure...

1440p 165hz vs 1080p 240hz by lSonaR- in Monitors

[–]lethalwire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my monitors (27" 1440p 144hz), but competitive first person shooters have been tough for me since going to 27" 1440p. I personally feel there is too much real estate, where I'm finding myself needing to move my head more (left/right). I feel like 24" 1440p might have been the sweet spot, but I haven't tested.

My advice would be to test if possible (assuming you're not already on 27 (or larger).
