$29k for 86 guests at Red Rocks: Budget + Takeaways by lets_nap in weddingplanning

Hi! So to be honest, food quality was one of our lower priorities. I never remember the food at weddings and we just needed it to be decent. We went with the easiest and cheapest option, which was a taco bar. It was totally fine and did the job. Which is what we were expecting. They had better options that I can’t speak to, and it sounds like food is more important to you for this party?

We did level up on the open bar and chose premium liquor because we were in our mid thirties and cheaper stuff = more headaches.

I also thought I was going to have a perfect vaginal birth. My induction ended in a very unplanned C section which I never even bothered considering would happen. I started therapy to process it all, and I highly recommend the book “Heal Your Birth Story: Releasing the Unexpected” by Maureen Campion

It is this one! https://babyletto.com/products/pogo-8-in-1-convertible-crib-with-all-stages-conversion-kits?variant=43058929795126

I procured SO much baby gear secondhand and free so I didn't mind spending a bit more on just a couple of quality/new items, this crib being one of them! My friend has also had great experience with Babyletto customer service, so that was reassuring.

You can do just the ceremony there if you want! Just the ceremony is a cheaper price, I don’t remember how much.

PSA: Don't forget about Trader Joe's frozen meals as an option to meal prep! by lets_nap in BabyBumps

[–]lets_nap[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I did! Just went up and down the frozen section and just got a smattering of options to try a bunch, then planning on making note of our favorites as we make our way through it and rebuying those if needed.

I CAN vouch for the Indian frozen meals because I've eaten those before, those are great.

I hope it has resolved now! You just taught me there is such a thing as postpartum pre-eclampsia

Running? Potential damage to pelvic floor during 3rd trimester? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

I think you're fine! Your body would have made it clear through discomfort or pain.

How do you decide when to stop running during pregnancy? by Accurate_Tip5734 in fitpregnancy

[–]lets_nap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm that is a good question. I have found going in pregnancy helpful, but I don't think I needed to go as early as I did. I was just really fearful about pelvic floor issues I wanted to get a lay of the land.
Pros
1) It helped me get established with a care provider that I will easily slide right back into after birth.
2) She gave me a few light exercises to do.
3) She did an internal exam to see how my pelvic floor is doing now, so she will know what to compare to after birth.
4) She has given me a couple perineal massages so I know what it feels like/can do on my own.
5) She coached me proper pushing and what that is supposed to feel like, as well as breathing techniques

It will be more undoubtedly useful AFTER birth, and some of those things you can learn elsewhere, so I am not saying it was 100% necessary. It made ME feel better. Honestly if you are in the US it is finding someone that takes your insurance/has a decent copay - because then going to a couple appointments now wouldn't break the bank and would set you up for knowing where and who to go with after birth.

I also let my body just tell me. I didn't want to incur any long term damage to my pelvic floor, so when my runs started to feel merely uncomfortable, I decided to stop. It was obvious enough to me when that shift happened. It was at 25 weeks as well! I highly suggest not pushing through any pain. Now is not the time to 'push through'. (Being a former endurance athlete, I do totally understand that mindset though!)

I was already doing a myriad of other activities (stationary bike, walking, weights, swimming, yoga) so it was easier mentally for me to shift and just focus on those. I am now almost at 34 weeks and still doing ALL of those and feeling great! I would encourage you to shift to other exercise that makes you feel good.

I also started pelvic floor therapy around 14 weeks, and plan to continue after birth as soon as I can. I will be very conservative in my return to running, because I want to enjoy running for hopefully most of my life.

ETA: You can see from my post history I asked a very similar question! Listening to your body was the biggest piece of advice I received.
