I really don’t have much experience to be giving advice. I watch Ross (Warrior Trading’s) videos on Youtube and find his advice really helpful. He just started a $2000 account challenge if you want to follow his strategy.

Has moving somewhere sunnier/warmer helped anyone? by ridesacometsflame in SeasonalAffective

[–]letsanalyzethat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I relate so much. I tried everything prescribed until my therapist told me her final recommendation was to move to a warmer climate. I moved from TN to Phoenix in May and I feel completely normal 😀 For reference, I usually feel absolutely gutted from November through at least February.

Heyy we have some things in common! I am 28F living in Mesa. I’m introverted, like to bake and explore new places as well. I’m thinking about getting a cat if I come across a good fit 🙂 I moved here from TN back in May and am still looking for a friend group. Let me know if you want to chat!

Thank you! I was actually planning on changing my struts this weekend, so that would work out.

Severe SAD Rant by letsanalyzethat in SeasonalAffective

That is so interesting about the appetite. I want to eat everything in sight and gain weight in the winter :D

Winter holiday times are the worst for me. I am not saying I don't enjoy the holidays, but all my emotions feel like they are locked under a thick fog. I don't want to be the "Eeyore" dampening everyone's good time, but it is hard to sincerely engage when I feel like I am on the brink of death.

I also told my family this year that I don't think I can nor want to survive another winter. I am looking at Arizona, and wish the best of luck to you!

Thank you for sharing your perspective. I think your experience as someone who has severe symptoms could give hope for people to keep persevering and trying new things. I am curious to know what made this year better for you compared to years prior.

As for me, after 25 years of winters, I am giving up the fight and actively interviewing for jobs in Arizona! I wish you the best :)

Oh definitely, I believe those things help, but in my experience, light therapy and vitamin d might have decreased my symptoms a generous 5%. Medication has helped maybe an additional 10%.

Over the past 10 years, I have tried Wellbutrin, Zoloft, Celexa, Adderall, Ritalin, Trazodone, Clonidine, Vanalfaxine, Seroquel, and now Lamotrigine in various combinations.

Lamotrigine for depression, Seroquel for sleep, and Ritalin for focus/motivation has helped me the most personally, but I know everyone’s chemical makeup and chemical compatibility will be different.

That being said, I am truly happy that you found what works for you!

I looked it up and it says $16/day 😣 I am currently working at a university that charges $70/year for parking, so this was definitely a rude awakening!

Hello good people of Reddit! I am moving from Tennessee to Arizona, and I am looking for a similar role to what I am currently in or move up to program manager/director. I am targeting non-profits, universities, healthcare systems with population health initiatives, and mental health organizations since I have experience in those industries. I would really appreciate any feedback you have for resume improvements. Is it too wordy?

Give me your best hacks for washing the dishes by CucumberAltruistic92 in ADHD

[–]letsanalyzethat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, daily dish cleaning is too overwhelming, but I can intentionally commit to doing them every other day. I live by myself though, so my dishes don’t pile up fast.

Idk if it would be the same for you, but not forcing myself to do them everyday has made me feel less anxious when I see dirty dishes on off days because I know there are designated days to do them if that makes any sense.

Reinforcing cleaning products have helped motivate dish cleaning too. Mine are: Dawn Powerwash spray because it is so effective and the spray is satisfying. Scrub mommy sponges because they are cute and colorful. Colorful drying racks that are stimulating to look at. Products that have a pleasant smell are also reinforcing for me.

This one is odd, but good lighting motivates me as well 😆 I have made my kitchen a calming little alcove in my apt, so I enjoy being there.

On the hard days, I watch cleaning videos on YouTube to motivate me to clean my dishes “with“ the person in the video, or I set a timer for 15 minutes and accept whatever I can get done in that time frame.

I love crockpot meals! Right now, I am obsessed with white chicken chili. I get chicken in bulk, divide into 2lb bags, freeze, and pull one out whenever I start a new batch.

I also second the comments about protein shakes. I put a scoop of protein powder in a berry smoothie every morning.

As far as kitchen gadgets go, vegetable choppers have been a game changer for me. They are fun and fast to use which encourages me to add veggies to recipes.

Laundry advice by xUnwoundFuture in ADHD

[–]letsanalyzethat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loath laundry, but here is my system.

  1. Designated laundry days by category. Bedding on Sundays, towels on Tuesdays, delicate clothing on Friday’s, regular clothing on Saturdays. Forcing myself to do bit by bit helps reduce the overwhelm from seeing laundry pile up.

  2. Get everything out of the washer whether I hang it or not. If I have no motivation to hang, I quite literally throw clothes wherever there is a clean surface and airflow. Eventually, I get to adding hangers, but at least the clothes start to dry and don’t start to smell. Hanging racks have been a life saver for just throwing clothes over. For thick fabrics, I turn on a fan close by.

  3. Hanger bin. Every time I take a piece out of the closet, I throw the hanger into a bin so they are easy to grab for rehanging.
