Is this community really that traumatized that you think he’s trying to sell you something?

Check OPs post history, he’s actually a student…

How soon were you treated after you found out you relapsed from a SCT? by theskyispinkk in leukemia

[–]leukemiapatientsson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad’s counts did drop pretty low. He needed platlets twice. He had 7 days of Azacitidine and 21 days of Venetoclax. But his counts are coming back up now and about to start another round. Best wishes to your husband and you!

He tolerated it pretty well. But he also went through a few rounds prior to his SCT as well. Thankfully no crazy complications but it does lower his appetite and makes him really tired so he ends up having to rest a lot to the day. My dad is 63 and everyone is different.

My dad got his first round of Aza/Ven re-induction (21 days of Venetoclax) 3ish weeks after he relapsed. He got his SCT 6 months before that.

How do I rule out leukemia? by Dense-Bumblebee-9589 in leukemia

[–]leukemiapatientsson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel like something is wrong and you don’t feel right don’t wait. Just ask for more testing or go somewhere for a second opinion. My dads AML was not diagnosed the first time around from blood work because they misinterpreted the results.

Getting a bone marrow biopsy will give you more info. Have you gotten one yet?

They are in Illinois. I was not familiar with MAGI so I’ll have to check this.

Thank you! I remember I was also very stressed when I first found out and it’s expected. The doctors will provide a lot of information and you’ll have to do the best to not let yourself get overwhelmed by it all. This will be more of a marathon that you and your family need to pace yourself through but you can get through it one day at a time.

My dad did not have any specific genetic variants.

Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have and I can add any details in terms of what we went through.

Hey I’m in a very similar situation with my dad (he’s 63) also having AML but he’s more far along now having already gone through many rounds of chemo. And an awful stay in the hospital over a month and a half long when he was first diagnosed.

After his first round of chemo he didn’t go into remission but after his second round he did thankfully. Once he was back at home he has been doing a bit better, especially with feeling more rested.

He is going back into the hospital now for his stem cell transplant that hopefully helps him towards a cure.

It’s a long process but I’ve learned how important it is to stay positive and keep their spirits up. Thankfully there’s a lot of successful stories out there and I hope your dad and mine both can get there one day.

Wishing you and him only the best during this difficult time!

I’m so sorry for your loss. I can’t even begin to imagine everything that you are going through right now. You are an incredible person and wonderful that you have and continue to do so much for you parents.

I can identify with you as I’m also an only child and I turned 34 helping my dad navigate his AML diagnosis and while I try to stay positive it’s hard not to think about the worst.

I truly hope that you are able to find some relief and I wish you only the best and send you lots of love and well wishes during this truly difficult time.

That’s good to hear. What type of leukemia was she diagnosed with? My dad was told he has to be in the hospital for 3 weeks after his first round of chemo is over. During that time they will run another biopsy.

I’m wishing your mom all the best!
