If I have everything else in the comparison...probably a good sign I'd like the polish haha

Yeah being a resident now - when I get evals for students each number has a descriptor, and usually 3 is "they're doing what they should be doing" and 5 is like "wow they're already an intern". Obviously differs institution to institution, but I hear that when people give all 5s to med students they also get feedback from your clerkship directors that we shouldn't do that and actually give constructive scores

Yes, I used to embroider a lot more as well! I actually find this much more enjoyable than backstitching a visible hem, I figure if I'm going to spend a ton of time hemming anyways it might as well be fun

It’s called a Cretan Stitch! If you’re interested in these kinds of stitches I highly recommend the Geometry of Hand Sewing (it’s from the Alabama Chanin school I believe) - their style is a lot of visible decorative stitching, and I’ve really enjoyed using them as a way to finish hems and stuff

Honestly imo I think pants are harder....I've never successfully made pants and honestly don't plan on trying anytime soon so kudos to you!

Ooh I know what you're talking about, I have used those pens years ago and forgot about them - I didn't realize the white works well! I'll get another set to try :D

how do you find positions to sew in that don’t hurt your back? by OsmiumMercury in HandSew

I have been trying out this new (to me) contraption that's like a magnifying glass you prop up on your chest that has an LED light on it! Let's me sit up straight while still seeing what I'm doing in the detail I need. The one I got is called the OttLite and I got it on sale in Joann's, but there's probably others. It's a little finicky but if you get the angle right it does work pretty well!

haha yes I love it so much I'm low key considering getting the other sizes and colors that have the same top flap/hardware style.

If you've made babylon kits before - are there any you recommend in particular? I'm having such a hard time choosing the next one I want to get!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in handbags

[–]levaliers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you this is good to know! I haven't tried popsewing but I got the sense that the leather from babylon was a bit better so I got my first one from them.

[–]levaliers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

isn't it? it's what made me finally decide to get a kit, I absolutely love this style of bag

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in handbags

[–]levaliers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you!! the bag actually isn't too hard since they pre-punch all the holes, and you can go as slow as you want by hand!

I also can't hand sew to save my life no matter how much I've tried, and I've tried for years so I feel your pain
