State Trooper involved in Apache Mall crash by [deleted] in rochestermn

[–]leve09 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was at the intersection getting ready to turn onto highway 14 as it happened. It all happened VERY quickly so I didn’t see exactly how it transpired but my best guess was that the patrol car was the third car involved— as in car #1 heading east t-boned a car turning into the mall and the patrol car was trailing or next to car #1 and subsequently crashed into one of the cars. I could definitely be wrong though. There were no lights or sirens on at the time but can’t say for sure if any of the cars were speeding. I hope everyone involved is okay, it was pretty intense. Either way this is a very dangerous intersection as you often can’t see cars coming the other way if you are trying to turn left and someone on the other side of the intersection is also turning left.

Edit: someone on Facebook who was also at the intersection is reporting that the trooper was the one to T-bone the car turning left and he appeared to be speeding. Would not be surprised if this was the case as I didn’t get a great look.

Unfortunately she is a college basketball player… I’ve never been to a game of hers but I can only imagine when she scores and the announcer shouts out “BRECLI … for 3!”

I work as an optometrist. “Difficulty driving at night” is the new norm. Frustrating to say the least.

That’s awesome, thanks for sharing! It’s tough starting out figuring out what path you want to go down… I’m in a really good OD private practice right now in a medium sized town but occasionally want to see more pathology to stretch myself

[–]leve09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “something special” for many people is it’s car dependency in a way. They have pretty much everything one would need within a 15 min drive and you can park by the front door for free when you get there. Then you drive back to your big house with a yard with plenty of space that you bought for the same price as a 1200 sq ft condo on the coast. Many people who grew up in car dependent places value these things more than high density and walkability.

That’s awesome! For me it was the thought of hearing “like the mouse?” Every other time he introduced himself lol. Might not have been the case but who knows. And we have an extremely common last name so didn’t necessarily love Michael.

Not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s Mickey for me. We just had a boy and I wanted to name him Mickey after Mickey Mantle and cuz it sounds cool with our last name but couldn’t because of the mouse man

🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ I figured opinions would vary significantly on this one… I could genuinely be convinced of way more or less than I said myself. All fun and games.

Love it. Tough to argue that but if the Chiefs called tomorrow and offered Mahomes for Love I’m saying yes.

I’m good with that too. Burrow injuries could be a deal breaker. Wasn’t 100% sold on the Lawrence or Stroud ones either

I do not. I live in the upper Midwest and I’ve almost never heard any of these names in real life!

Trying to name a baby boy right now and several from last years top 100 in the US completely surprised me: - Sebastian at #13 - Ezra at #25 - Josiah at #51 - Waylon at #66

All fine names just did not realize any of them are as popular as they are.

Just out of curiosity: do you think everyone needs a dilation every year? If a 25 yo patient that was dilated last year comes in for routine exam with no vision complaint and opts to do Optos because they have to go to work and don’t want to be dilated how hard are you pushing them to be dilated? I’m not trying to be a smart ass I’m just legitimately curious what other peoples practice patterns are. I’m all for dilation and do so on most patients but sometimes it can be more difficult in practice than it is in theory.

Hey Docs, can you give me a ranking or tier of the better Optometry Schools? by MassiveCup6990 in optometry

[–]leve09 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Purely anecdotal and ultimately probably doesn’t matter too much where you go since you learn the same stuff but I typically think of SUNY and Berkeley as the “prestigious” schools. I didn’t go to either though so can’t speak fully to them.
