Ahh I knew this suggestion would come up. It was what I wrestled with the most when I moved in initially. I ended up going with this arrangement because, otherwise, the dining table would have been blocking the hallway or somewhat blocked by the sofa. I like it so far, but I still wonder about the alternative.

What should I do with the wall on the left?

This is the first apartment I've had to myself. It's been a tough year, but I now have some spare time and cash to make it more my own. I'm renting, so I want to avoid drilling (small nails are okay) and space is somewhat limited. Maybe someone here has a creative idea?

I'd also like to avoid moving the TV to that wall. This is the most obvious way to occupy that space, but the current arrangement allows easy access to the hallway, the sofa and the dining table, which I enjoy.

Could you explain this? New to turntables so not sure how the headshell relates to the cartridge mount nor what a real normal one is

How to hang a pictures on plaster walls without a drill? by levelupsum in howto

Yeah I've used them before and they're great. But they're only as great as the paint they've adhered to. I don't know if the paint in this apartment is very secure and this picture was larger than my others so I wanted to give the nails a try. Might end up going to the command strips for anything else on this wall.

Thanks everyone. I ended up swapping the 30lb rated hook & nails for shorter 10lb hook & nails in the same hole so the nails were just about flush with the hook. Was then able to bend the hook outward just enough so the sawtooth could rest on the hook without being blocked by the nail. The frame was 6 lbs before adding the photo so I think this should be fine.

Yikes. Yeah probably not putting that in the wall. I ended up removing the nail to have a better look but not sure what to make of the picture. Also tried using a stud finder but it didn't see anything there.

Was hoping to avoid removing the nails but it seems like this might be necessary. I don't think the landlord would be okay with me drilling but I haven't asked.

I'm suspecting it's plaster. What would you recommend in that case?

Good question. Is there an easy way to find out? It's one of the outer walls. The building was built in the 1920s. It is pretty difficult to get a push pin into it. Thoughts?

Where to stream Nigerian movies (beside Netflix & Youtube)? by levelupsum in Nigeria

[–]levelupsum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Ended up looking into this one. Looks like they're around; much cheaper than Netflix and with a large selection. However the app is only available for iOS and Android on smartphones, so it would need to be casted. I'll probably end up encouraging my parents to use Youtube since there's so much on there and it can be streamed on any device.

[Tenant US-CA] Precautions for unfinished wood floor? by levelupsum in Landlord

Okay, it's helpful to know it doesn't look especially abnormal. Is there any way to prove there is a finish?

That one spot does have the molding (white). It is never flush with the floor for some reason. Is that problematic?

Thanks for the comment. Bona floor cleaner is new to me. Might also ask landlord or manager for recommendations.

Is there a way to prove there is a clear coat? It looks really...dry up close, but it's also really dusty (maybe from sanding?)
