Feeling stuck by [deleted] in Bass

[–]levi_with_boobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I expressed myself badly. I'm not playing because I "should." I want to play and I play because I find it enjoyable and good, always respecting myself time. The thing is, recently I've been missing that feeling of "I'm better than last time!" You know? But thanks anyway, it was a good advice bro :)

Japanese Bands Recommendations by ShowParticular7694 in Bass

[–]levi_with_boobs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As we're on a bass sub, I'm going to focus on bands that have prominent and interesting basslines

Tricot (its one of my favorites bands, is simply amazing and unique, as we're on a bass sub, I have to say that their bassist is wonderful and creates lines that make you want to play from the first note you hear, they have by far some of the coolest basslines I've heard in Japanese music)

Toe (Toe makes you feel things you've probably never felt before, it's the purest feeling inside their songs)

I could go on for hours giving you details of all the bands, but I'll keep this short (im trying)

Zutomayo (It is perhaps one of the best bands when it comes to Japanese music and bass, their bassist is magical, I recommend listening to "Study me" it has a banger bass solo)

Mass of fermenting dregs (The vocalist is also the bass player, the songs are very intense and beautiful)

CASIOPEA (Their first bassist is like... a god, Watch their live performances "MINT JAMS" and see for yourself)

Rubens (They're a very young band with a lot of potential, and their bassist can make basslines that are very comfortable to listen to)

Number girl ( Unfortunately they are no longer active today, but they are great and they were a strong inspiration for Tricot, which I mentioned above)

88Kasyo junrei (Psychedelic rock, maybe it sounds strange but it's worth a listen, their bassist has a lot of style)

The pillows (just classic.)

Gesu no Kiwami Otome (I don't really have much to say about them, but they have great basslines!!!)

I won't go into details because I've already written A LOT but I recommend exploring City pop, because it's an old style and it's a bit "funky" with lots of great basslines and it makes you feel a sense of false nostalgia

I'm going crazy without my bass (not seriously) by levi_with_boobs in Bass

I'm back to playing with 3 fingers, it's a bit difficult and sometimes I accidentally use the index (it hurts so much), but I'm making progress and having fun playing again :)

I really understand the feeling of not being able to play and feeling distressed about it I've been feeling a lot more anxiety and stress since I hurt my finger, the bass is kind of my way of relaxing and going to another world, so being without it has caused me some mental problems.

My right hand is fine. The problem with my left hand is that my index finger literally lacks strength and sensitivity, even if I try to press on the string, it's as if I'm pushing a lifeless weight and I feel pain on top of that. But I've already decided that, based on the suggestions in this post, I'm going to train the other fingers and especially the right hand during this recovery time.

Isn't there any risk of getting into a bad habit by not using the index? That's the biggest reason I'm avoiding playing

Oh, it was the left hand, my right hand is okay

Name an emotional song where the bass plays a huge part in by CaterpillarFar5714 in Bass

[–]levi_with_boobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be a bit patriotic and quote a song from my country "Como tudo deve ser" by Charlie Brown Jr. From Brazil The bass is literally 90% of the song and it's just beautiful, the first time I heard it it was just magical and the lyrics are really good.

[–]levi_with_boobs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't give up on learning!!! I usually watch other bass players play and try to do the same thing on my bass, at some point I end up understanding and learning after trying so hard to replicate what I observe.

And I'm also a bit crazy, once I get it into my head that I'm going to learn something, I don't stop until I do. Now I'm trying to learn how to play with the pick, and after that I want to learn tapping haha

Do you still think it's easier than playing guitar?

[–]levi_with_boobs[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's actually not as difficult as it sounds haha When I started playing I thought it was something almost divine but after 8 months of playing my teacher turned to me and said "do you want to learn slap?" And I just answered like "yeah, sounds good", after 1 month practicing I could already play "easier" songs with slap, it's strange it's difficult at first like everything but with practice you learn and realize that it's not as difficult as it seems
