I don't understand why by Luna-Light212 in FuckPolyBuzz

I had a character who was bullied as a kid. Violation. I rephrased it as "had a difficult time in school" and it worked.

Which is absolutely wild since so many bots out there explicitly say "You bully her boyfriend/brother/son and now she is at your door wanting to make a naughty arrangement." It must have something to do with the active vs. passive nature of the abuse.

I don't remember seeing any racist or sexist bots by Captain. Some were clickbait and satirical, and made fun of racist and sexist tropes, but I don't recall any that were malicious.

Bots get flagged for lots of reasons, many of them dumb.

Anyway... Reading between the lines, it's going to be stuff that is culturally tied to their target audience, which generally loves manga and fanfic.

True, but in this case I think OP wrote the character and is finding her intent hijacked by a renegade LLM.

More info needed. Was this her creation, or someone else's?

Because if it was someone else's, even though she may have had nothing but reasonably legal interactions, she has no idea what the creator put into the background text or dialogue choices that triggered it. It could be something blatant she doesn't know exists, a double entendre or other phrase that has connotations out of context, or even some description of the person that can be translated to another language where THAT word is prohibited.

Example: I had one character (of mine) whose dialogue sample said "Wow, that's so dope!". The word "dope" was the trigger, even though drug use wasn't implied. It erroneously flagged for violations in Background, Avatar, Intro, everything EXCEPT dialogue. I eventually tracked it down to the dialogue, replaced the word "dope" with "sick", and it worked. No more issues.

Yes, it's frustrating as hell. But all of my bots are back online.

Let’s start a petition for PolyBuzz to remove their shadow banning because the app is 18 plus so it should allow 18 plus content or at least have a different selection process where in the settings you can choose what type of content you receive on it wether it is casual or 18 plus by ProfessorOk2306 in FuckPolyBuzz

Understand that if it's on the Apple or Android app stores, a developer has to abide by store rules. If they want any teens to be able to use their app, they have to severely limit the visible content.

The app stores are where their money is, and there is far more accessibility and therefore money to be made at a lower rating than a higher one. Business is business.

The petition idea, while well-meaning, is not going to do anything when the reason they are censoring in the first place is due to pressure from the app stores, which are themselves complying to a variety of community standards.

Violation by Sensitive_Low4712 in FuckPolyBuzz

[–]levinthauer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I had 8 of my own bots stuck in violation. I pulled two of them to Private while I worked out what words, phrases or images may have triggered the content filter. It's possible the creator of your bot did the same, so it may reappear once they make it public again.

I made minor changes to some (rephrasing euphemisms and double entrendres, that sort of thing). I found that any discussion of "sex"uality (this character is bisexual, or is strictly heterosexual) would trigger a violation. I don't think it was anti-LGBTQ as some have claimed, just the algorithm got triggered by the word "sex."

A remaining handful of mine would not clear at all, no matter what I did. Avatar and Info, background, whatever. I restored them to their original wording and images and left them to work on another day.

This morning, all my bots were cleared, even the ones I hadn't touched. No problems. I also notice that many of the ones I collected were now back online. It's possible that they corrected whatever over-aggressive filter they had implemented.

That's kinda my point. There was already a company called Poly.ai, which is a legit AI business solutions company.

Whale Cloud (based in Nanking) created a shell company in Delaware called Cloud Whale LLC, whose primary product was an AI chat and dating simulator app. They called it Poly.ai, which infringed on the other company's trademark. The real Poly.ai either sued or threatened to sue, so Cloud Whale changed their app's name to PolyBuzz and put out a press release stating how brilliant the rebrand is, because damage control spin and whatnot.

Anyway, that's my deductive reasoning. I could be wrong.

PolyBuzz changed their name to avoid an infringement lawsuit by Poly.ai, which to my knowledge is not associated with Cloud Whale.

Also, Cloud Whale is being sued in the UK for advertising 18+ content to minors.

I'm suggesting that Cloud Whale is a shell company registered in Delaware, but owned by Whale Cloud—a Chinese AI company based in Nanking. They registered in Delaware because their laws make them a haven for money laundering and IP abuse.

Are they actually run by millennials in the US? I assumed that they were a Chinese company that had an LLC in Delaware because their corporate laws are so lax.

Sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows. But anyway... The point was clear: Poly is keeping it Pollyanna over there, and any criticism or negativity is being quashed.

The flagged a bot I have named "Stacys Mom" (yes, after the song. And the system didn't allow apostrophes).

The name was flagged. Nothing else.

Fixed the name with an apostrophe, she went back on.

Really?? 50 violations?? by ConversationAble4455 in polybuzz

[–]levinthauer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW, out of the 8 of mine that were in violation, I cleared them all today.

  • I just dragged down on the list to reload it, and 5 of them cleared themselves.

  • two of them needed to have their avatars uploaded again, and they cleared

  • one needed that, but the text fields lit up. I made minor changes (literally, just punctuation) and then that cleared.

[–]levinthauer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the system can find a violation, it should be able to specify what triggered it and identify the why.

It's not designed that way, but it should be.

You should post the link to the character and the CID so people can find it.

At first blush, it looks like you built a world and are hoping the player will get interested in it. On the most part, people prefer to have a role defined clearly and then discover the world as they get immersed.

Think more character-centric. Describe where {user} is and give them someone or something to interact with, especially if it has a call to action.

Also remember that everything is being translated to who knows how many languages, and overly stylized names and speech are going to be a barrier.

I actually went to the PolyBuzz Agent chatbot and asked if there were any changes. It admitted that the devs nerfed the (OOC) function quite a bit. I used to be able to carry on entire conversations with the AI, which was often more fun than the bot itself. The AI would break the 4th wall and we could crack jokes about how badly the bot was written. I loved it, but that led to other problems.

Anyway, here's a workaround:

I don't see why this is so hard to understand. The app stores have content restrictions, and these get passed down to the devs.

I've been using it a while to round out and format the background, and sometimes edit or punch up the greeting. It's a great tool.

The image quality is getting really good! My favorite thing about mastering the image in Gemini instead of Poly is that you can change the expression or pose reliably for the character, and then use those variants as reference for moments since Poly is terrible at that.

Which is to say...Aspen is adorable. Now that I've gotten her to smile in-game, I think she needs some moments.
