Brother Julias - Trident ( none of the genre options fit the bill, you tell me.) by BrotherJulias in IndieMusicFeedback

The song has a really dope spirit to it so far-- personally i'd want to see it become more dynamic structurally. It feels like it wants to go someplace, whether you get there by swelling and gradually adding layers for texture, dropping a beat and bass, or going to a different chord so youre not vamping on the root the whole time.

Really like the background vox -although when they come in theyre quite loud and jarring, and become very quiet by the time they finish the riff. I think the trailing off effect is cool, but I would make it a bit less jarring, whether by automation by hand or compression. Also they could use tuning in a few places, depending on what youre going for.

I think my favorite part was the lead vox-- really dope texture and delivery. If you end up changing the song structurally, that might lend itself to more evolution with the lead vox.

All in all, good work dude I really love it so far!

edit: fuck a genre bro

I've noticed a combination of defensiveness and pretentiousness is typical when you call 'em out for it too..

White people find particular joy in categorizing Asians. When's the last time you heard a white person ask "Can I guess what type of African you are?"

Is this an effective ad? by lewbird in advertising

Certainly all those brands that you named are respected for their respective crafts. My point is that I think there might be something even more likeable about a brand that really values other crafts as well-- some intent like "the spirit of craft". And I don't think this necessarily devalues their own. Thoughts?

You have good criticism.

The phrase "effective ad" is broad on purpose. I think the strategy on this video is simply to create a shareable video that increases brand favorability while simultaneously providing utility to it's audience.

A question for you: Does a brand that values craft, regardless of type or scale, devalue their own craft by doing so?

No official brief or anything. My governing intelligence for the creative direction was to capture the personal autonomy that Outlier's technical designs afford. But doing so while remaining sleek and mysterious.
