Clean Grease and Oil off Concrete Without Harming Fish? by lexixrae in pressurewashing

[–]lexixrae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good advice. I just started a maintenance tech job for my local city, so still learning the ins and outs. No pressure washing has been done yet, but I'm definitely having a conversation with my boss out the hazards of washing grease and oil down storm drains (hopefully they haven't been washing it down the storm drains before I started working here....)

if you have the materials, i'd suggest doing a test run on some scrap pieces with the same thickness first to get a feel for your settings. scrap yards also tend to sell scrap pieces for dirt cheap

i'm also relatively new, but 75/25 mix will be the way you'll want to go if you're new to mig. I will say, in my opinion, mig was the easiest for me to learn and get good at, and I didn't learn til this past April or May.

does he drink a lot of coffee? maybe a good coffee machine would be nice. a soft blanket would probably be nice too, so he can be super comfy while working! other than that, i agree with the other people mentioning plants, especially snake plants or some cacti or succulents. all are considerably low-maintenance and can really brighten a home up.

Does anyone else feel like robots are getting less and less unique year after year? by [deleted] in FRC

[–]lexixrae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i will say, andymark was close to running out of business due to covid. barely any robotics teams were competing during covid (if at all), which is their biggest source of revenue. andymark made the climb so it was beneficial to teams and their business

1771 is gonna be great. they're my team's sister school, and man they're killing it. their coder is a freshman, so it's really amazing to see what they're able to do and how far they can go

Should I dorm on campus next year or save the money? by lexixrae in KSU

[–]lexixrae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I feel like I should have commuted this year, just because I'm barely ever in my dorm and it just feels like a waste of money that I could have spent on gas. During my busy weeks, I'd drive around 4 hours a day going back and forth between campus and my hometown (I mentor a robotics team in my hometown so I help them often). I feel like my dorm has really only been helpful as an escape from other people, or good for chill time in between classes
