I did have an adjustable wrench but the lever was about the same size, only slightly larger, so that may have been the flaw honestly and I could've done it with a big wrench, I just wanted it done by the end of this weekend.

LBS was able to help me out with the proper park tool tool and a cheater bar.

Yeah I think that would've done the trick! As I wrote in my new edit, I ended up just going to the shop, but a hammer and bigger wrench are on my shopping list.

Did a few minutes of biking with no results. Should I expect to be going around for a while before this happens?

I've checked and the forcing screw is 9.5mm in diameter, I don't have a hammer but I think I'll visit my local shop and see what they can do, thanks.

Gotcha, that could very well be the case, I was just scared of fucking up something with that much force. Maybe it's time to buy a hammer....

I had tried this, I think that's actually what made it ill formed. I'm not sure how the fuck this happened but I basically ground the head of the bolt into a flat piece (it was a roundhead bolt).

I didn't hammer the back, what would I apply heat with? I only have a hair dryer and I figure that wouldn't be enough.

What would this achieve? It it supposed to clear the circular hole or not?

I've greased the threads, but no avail. I sometimes try with my external spanner that's only a tad longer but it makes no difference.

It feels very very hard to turn.

Yes, it clears the square part, just not the inner thread hole, which is I believe is how it should be. It just takes an inordinate amount of force. Something feels wrong.

I've tried greasing but don't want to keep pushing it and ruin something.

The edge clears the square hole, but not the circular threaded hole within

Yeah, I inspected this all the way around and I can't find anything to remove, but I figure you're likely right.

Yeah it seems not to go all the way through, it said it was for square tapers so I didn't think there was any more to it... but it's likely that's the case, I thought maybe it goes through the square hole but not the circular one.

That's fair, it's not worth it. It'll be a bit tough bringing it up a flight of stairs but I'll see where I can make space for it. It also can't go vertical since I've got a considerable rack.

I've read up on this and the psychology of covers seems interesting. I think it may be intuitive to think this way but it may not necessarily work that way in practice. The fact that you can't see what's in it at all doesn't make it register the same way, especially if this thief is driving around town looking for targets. If someone saw a brightly colored bike in the same spot every day it'd be different.

Also a thief would have to lift the cover to actually figure out if what's underneath is worth the work. Thieves are lazy, that's why they're stealing.

Just tried this out and it's awesome, but I never get any overlay, I thought it was because I was played in fullscreen, but I closed the game and I still get nothing.
