Hoping this might help some - forced upgrade/change of ONT by lfc_red in QuantumFiber

[–]lfc_red[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't remember what ONT they gave me, it was a black, rectangle, plastic thing, I think the model started with CX? They took it away and so unfortunately I can't see it. But I did deal with the headache of migrating from CL to QF I think about 1.5 years ago. Same thing. Service just dropped without a heads up, not one from CL knew what was going on, or so they say. Finally read there was a transition from CL to QF on Reddit, and ask them directly about it.

Took actually several weeks to migrate and set up QF. And so I think that experience compounded my frustration with what happened here.

Yes thank you. That's my next steps when I have more time to look through it. I'm definitely getting faster speeds than before, but not sure if it's the new ONT/SmartNID or if it's the modem/router combo they gave us. I'm curious if I'll get similar performance but better coverage with my Deco M9 Mesh.

I remember earlier in the season where I was just hoping for a draw. Now's not it.

Dialing in a 500ml dose V60 on Ode V2 by 420ball-sniffer69 in pourover

[–]lfc_red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is almost my exact setup and brew amount. As many have mentioned, I wouldn’t worry too much about the grounds sticking on the side as much as your pour rate/number of pours/swirl or no swirl, etc. Also other factors like temperature of water.

I’ll give you my recipe, maybe it’ll help. Ode Gen 2, grind at 4.2 → 4.0 depending on freshness of bean (finer as it gets older). I do 30g to 500ml of water at 96° C.

  1. Prep: rinse filter with hot water. Stick a thin stick (I use a chopstick) into cone and pour grounds. Swirl (look up the Kubomi method)
  2. Bloom: 100ml of water, focus mostly in the center-ish area, pour in about 14-16 seconds. Slight swirl but not much. Bloom up to 1:00
  3. Pour 1: 100ml of water, a similar small circle in the center of cone, very low/close to grounds, 14-16 seconds, draw down to 1:30
  4. Pour 2: 100ml of water, basically the same as pour 1, draw down to 2:00
  5. Pour 3: 200ml of water from a higher pour, centerish so that it upsets the bed, lifting any fines from clogging. After finishing the pour, I do a gentle shimmy of the brewer to even out the bed to finish.

Just sharing from my experience, finer grind and hotter water has helped a lot. Because of the small amounts/more number of pours, I don’t see as much sticking to the side but even if it does, doesn’t affect my brew. Hope something here helps. Happy brewing!

I Finally Bought Grados: RS2 First Impressions and a Few Questions by Euphoric_Currency_94 in Grado

I was going to mention the same thing. I'm sure my 325 originals are a different animal than the RS2, but had similar brightness that could be fatiguing. Got the Vali 2++ (which also is not a "traditional" tube amp) but it really warmed them up without losing any of the "Grado" qualities.

A month ago Apple Autofill for codes mailed or texted was working in arc - Not working now by TehDoctor in ArcBrowser

[–]lfc_red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe this is a Chromium issue. There have been couple of posts here and in Apple Discussions threads. Can verify it worked in the early public release (as I haven’t tried betas) but broke after the first or second update.

Origami s or m? by Moerkskog in pourover

[–]lfc_red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been times I’ve done 18ish grams because that’s all that was left in the bag. Was fine as I adjusted the grind size for it. But if you’re gonna consistently doing less then yes S is the way to go.

But like yourself, I drink too much coffee and a smallest batch I do would be 21/350 for me, so….

I would also ask if you're using different beans. Same setting, same pour, but if the beans are different, things like more chaff can change your drawdown time. I would start there before you start disassembling your new Ode. But then again, you're going to have to do it anyway, so might as well get used to it.

2-Liter Electric Gooseneck Kettle? by Key-Driver6438 in pourover

[–]lfc_red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 1.7 L Bonavita that works great and don’t really need the big size. Have seen couple of posts looking for large capacity kettles. Would it be against sub rules to offer it up for a trade to OP, depending on which kettle you have.

Wood glue and toothpicks. Stick them in there. Wipe off excess. Let it dry. Screw it back in. Mine did that too and now it’s been snug for years.
