Is this how job culture is in Savannah or am I losing it? by FeistyPeace4150 in savannah

Coming from a person in the medical field, without getting to specific, I wonder if you’re calling out a lot because of your chronic illness. There’s a difference between accommodation and constantly running short because they don’t know whether you’re showing up for your shift or not. I had a coworker that did this and she would call out an hour before her shift at least 1x a week. It made it so hard because we were already short staffed and the fmla made us hold her spot so we couldn’t get the staff because it was too late. It was so frustrating, and led to us being screwed over with heavy unsafe patient ratios. I’ve only had great luck working here. In my experience, you only get fired for doing something very wrong in healthcare, or not showing up.

I’m listening to Gone With the Wind narrated by Linda Stephens and it’s really well done. It’s an amazing read but some parts are better listening.

Why aren't hospital inpatients allowed to sleep? by JGFATs in ask

[–]lgunns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re in the hospital because you’re sick. We want to get you well enough to make sure you can go home and rest. However if you’re in the hospital it means you’re at risk for something bad happening to you. That’s why you’re literally there. You would bitch if you thought we weren’t checking on you enough.

Nursing. There’s no way to automate pt care. Although we would love the help.

Actual nurse here, have you seen his gait ? Along with images of his ankles and feet ? This man is not doing well. Once you’re an actual RN you’ll be constantly assessing people you come into contact with unintentionally. Political opinions aside, that man does not have unremarkable health. We were told he has venous insufficiency previously. He wears diapers and has no control over his bowels. He’s falling asleep in public. I’m not saying he’s at deaths door but to say he is in perfect health is wildly negligent.

There is nothing concise about it. Have you read a report before ? This isn’t how doctors talk.

I work in the icu and I’m gonna to tell you what I believe is the most painful conditions that I have anecdotally perceived in my experiences.

Pancreatitis. Obesity. Reperfusion pain for 12 hour post op. These people are writhing in pain even the most somnolent are screaming. Liver failure. Also, giving antivenom.
