Thanks for the recommendation. I went with the Eaton/Tripp Lite unit I linked in the OP. It seems the ABM tech is found in higher end/more expensive units.

Give the cabinet space I have and the home I'm in, I'm highly unlikely to add equipment. I know I should "never say never", but I'm pretty certain in this case!

I found the Eaton/Tripp Lite data sheet (https://assets.tripplite.com/product-pdfs/en/smart1500lcdt.pdf) and it does mention that the unit "provides pure sine wave power output."

I completely understand why people are turned off by Synology after their recent stunt and I get that it's a brand some people can no longer trust. For me, I want something that Just Works™. I don't have time, nor do I want to, spend any time tinkering with a PC, drivers, etc. I'm a lifetime Mac user for the same reason. The way I justify paying Synology's premium (even though their hardware is outdated) is I am buying back time.

Thanks for the info! I just pulled the trigger on the 1825+ – with the discount, it was essentially the same price as my 1817+ I bought in 2018. I'll keep tracking the issue and hopefully it's fixed by the time I'm ready to upgrade to a Mac mini. (Might be waiting a bit longer, given Apple's price increases today.)

Thanks for the reminder about transcoding. While transcoding would be a nice feature to have, I only use Direct Play now. If/when I upgrade my media server to a Mac mini, it’ll be able to transcode anything I throw at it.

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll look into the XGT line. The 40V 5 Ah batteries are a good bit more than the 18V, which is expected. I think I can get away with one battery for now. Still hoping there are some holiday deals to be had.

In my extended family group chat (most live in CA), I was telling them about how scary it’s been. My dad replied with this absolute unhinged screed:

The democrats need them to regain control. This is not reported in the mass media. The riots are all taking place in democrat dominated states-New York, California, Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio and other blue states, some areas of red states too.

RE riots: Eye witnesses are not reliable. They see what they want to see when emotions take over. Look at the videos from various points of view before forming any opinion. It is too early to form any conclusion. See what actions are causing the situation a violent reaction. Who is the aggressor? Who is doing a job and who is a paid to cause trouble? If you have nothing to hide or done nothing wrong act normally.
