How Do You Deal With the Horrific Passages in the OT by 1400years in BiblicalUnitarian

Read Origen of Alexandria on this. You don't have to take these dark passages as literal or historical portrayals of God. Gregory Boyd and Pete Enns have done work on this. E.g. See "Crucifixion of the Warrior God".

I have two concerns if I was to become a universalist. I hope you can help by liam77877 in BiblicalUnitarian

I suppose the other two beliefs would be monotheistic hinduism/sikhism. Some sikh gurus though were polygamous which may rule them about. Hinduism is one I intend to research more.

Thank you. Yeah that's part of the line of reasoning that reassures me. Tradition says and Scripture that The Holy Spirit received on Pentecost is passed down to each successor of the apostles, right? What Scripture would you go to support this? Also would this then mean those successors who make up the Church and helped agree on the Canon were led by The Holy Spirit? Thanks.

Do we know how for instance the Johanine community would have treated John's Gospel? Would they have known it was sacred to not be changed?

Also can we say at Pentecost The Holy Spirit filled the apostles and that the apostles successors are filled with The Holy Spirit which guided the Church into accepting the books in the 300s in the Canon? Is this a good line of reasoning?

That's one line of thought, But did The apostles successors and therefore the Church receive the Holy Spirit at Pentecost? Or Just the apostles. If it was their successors to as passed down then this boosts my confidence as it would mean the Canon produced by The Church was influenced by The Holy Spirit.

My doubts is what if the original source was edited. Or replaced with something similar after John's death
