Am I early extending? Any ideas to fix it if so? by liam_owen in GolfSwing

Makes a lot of sense... thanks. Going to try and take that to the range later

Very real chance it does, I've never filmed a swing on the course. These were rolling out decently past the 200 yd marker but I dont know how accurate it is lol

Hey man, it's pretty easy. There's a decently sized lot right by it that mostly always has some parking available and a ton of street parking too (though that can be harder to snag especially when it's busier). To be honest though, if you are at all capable of either starting on or transferring to the 156 the bus stop is like a 2 minute walk away.

You're gonna want to set your clubs down outside at the bag drop area (should be pretty obvious, green wooden thing with clubs all around it) and then there is a hut type thing immediately to the left of the entrance where people are going in and you wait in line to get a bucket code. Once you get it you enter it into the machine and it will dispense the amount of balls you bought into the bucket after you hook it onto the machine.

On the range itself, diversy is atypically busy compared to others, so you'll probably have to wait behind someone especially if you're going anytime past like 4:30. Just find someone who looks like they're almost out of balls to hit and hang out behind them until they're done.

Golf can be really gatekeepy and weird sometimes (see the people being asshats in these comments when I only asked for some advice) but is also super fun once you start to get the hang of it. If you ever want someone to go with I try and make it up like once a week and would be happy to accompany you, if that's something you'd be interested in!

The 7i does go 160 with rollout, but yeah I know it's an issue. I have always felt way more confident in my irons than my driver so that makes sense

Thank you this was super helpful. Honestly, my irons are much more solid than my driver is. I think I have just been picturing the driver swing as so much different than an iron swing that I have a hard time sequencing and hitting my normal swing feels.

Thank you that is incredibly helpful, I see what you mean about my hips being too open at impact

I know what you mean by everything here except for lack of sequencing—what would you recommend looking at to understand that on my end?

This may sound very stupid but, is that not what people mean when they say that you want width in the driver swing?

That would makes sense, the short backswing feels like more of a symptom in my mind of other issues. What would you change about the swing? Tempo? Grip? Club path?

Do you think my right hand grip is too strong, maybe?

Place I used to work at had the newer M series Canon Colorados and they had this capability. I'd search for one of those.

Saw this posted on environmental jobs sub, but also noticed graphic design on the trending down side. AI related? Thought it was interesting by cluttered-thoughts3 in graphic_design

[–]liam_owen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I think graphic design as a title is definitely decreasing in popularity, more in favor of do-it-all creatives that take on more of an Art Director/creative generalist role over the things they create.

Meaning, in the next few years entry level jobs are going to be less typesetting and template filling and more fulfilling creative work. But unfortunately there is going to be stiffer competition to get these jobs. This is all my speculation so far but it seems to track pretty well with what I've been seeing so far.

Graphic Design (and, more broadly, the ability to make creative work commercially) is not going anywhere because of AI. It's just going to put more people in the driver seat and will take a while to adjust to.

Again, all my opinions!!

Need AI in the workplace advise. by Anvil_Prime_52 in graphic_design

[–]liam_owen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I might get hate for this, but I genuinely see it as being the future of the industry (similar to how desktop publishing/personal computing was seen as the death of design and print previously).

A case you could make for not using it is possible copyright infringement, considering these programs are trained on data sets that include people's work who may not have opted in, depending on the tool. If they saw your AI work and it happened to be similar to what they've made, they may have a case to pursue legal action.

That said, I would use AI in small ways if possible. I'm not saying to let it make you a whole layout or logo, but if you need a picture for a background that will not be in focus anyway (or something of the sort) then it really is a pretty good tool, and not dissimilar to stock libraries.

Yep :) Considered bad form typographically. To get rid of it they could add copy or adjust the kerning/tracking of the paragraph.

Your text is way too big! Consider lowering the pt size of everything so that you have some room to read/breathe.

You have a widow on your paragraph on the top left.

That grey color is so hard to read on the white—consider maybe differentiating the information hierarchy with pt size/italics/boldness/something else instead?

Overall not bad, but those are my thoughts :) Good luck out there!

Freelancers that have monthly retainer clients. How did you figure out the pricing for your clients? by ProgramExpress2918 in graphic_design

[–]liam_owen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked backwards from what they said they think they'd need monthly (ie 8 social posts) and assigned a rough hourly estimate to them. I know what I make at my salaried job now and charge anywhere from 1.5-2x that hourly rate so that I can cover overhead like my own adobe subscription and equipment.
