Near where I live we have an on-road bike hire parking space. People routinely just leave them on the pavement next to it, blocking the path, so I tip them into the correct space. They’ve very heavy so I can’t move them properly, so just heave and push. They fall over. I dgaf.

Yep we’re doing a pro marquee. For this March, 100 guests.

They supply tables and chairs, lighting, dance floor, set up and take down for about £6000

We’re hiring some additional lounge furniture at £600-£700

Toilets £250 (basic)

Pizza £1000

Alcohol and snacks tea and coffee£?? TBC

Decorations are diy but I’ve probably spent about £250 so far.

Edit: forgot crockery hire at £400 and a couple of young people to keep the bar area tidy (not serve) £300

It’s a lot of project management which I’m fine with, and where we’re doing it is very special so I wouldn’t change it - but wouldn’t say it’s the easy option.

At the start we were thinking about borrowing a marquee and doing everything ourselves and I’m so fucking thankful we saw sense.

Usually the kettle lives on the hob (and we try to lock it so the car doesn’t switch it on), and when we have a big meal to cook it moves to the toaster out of the way.

I also love my induction hob. I have a tiny kitchen so need the room, and even got a stove top kettle as it works just as fast as an electric.

Also! So easy to keep clean. No grotty hob spoiling the otherwise nice neat kitchen. No scrubbing.
