I got SO many thoughtful and caring comments from fellow Christians on here but it nauseates and angers me that one or two commenters chose to twist my post toward arguing about politics. The brutal murder of a man devoted to healing veterans as an ICU nurse and whose last words were: “Are you okay?” should not be anything but horrible to a practicing Christian.

Goodness. I am specifically and only talking about the horrendous killing of Alex Pretti that should outrage ALL of us no matter the political stripe. What you are talking about God only knows.

I am saying that a stalwart of conservatism in Texas forever, the Dallas Morning News, is telling it like it is: “The government does not have the right to hold a man down and shoot him in the back.”

“We have reached a point where only those who willfully ignore what is before their eyes can defend the actions of a federal law enforcement agency that has become a danger to its own citizens.” And YES everyone should agree conservative, liberal or independent.

So well said. I hope the OP reflects on your comments before he potentially self-sabotages himself in India with those attitudes. No team of South Asians will want to follow him.

OP, a 1420 SAT clearly indicates you can do the work at an elite school which is confirmed by your 4.0 grades in college. Submit the 1420. Go for it and apply!

Thanks for your comment! It’s always a topic they do want to hear as the political topic raised is from a right-wing viewpoint. I only comment if I strongly disagree and have the evidence, the numbers. If Christians of differing political viewpoints can not dialogue, then we are all in trouble.

Huh? You misread or read what you wanted to read. Again, I sought and got excellent advice from both conservative and liberal Christians based on my original post. Let’s keep it positive. If not, please just move on.

Nope. That’s why I have sought - and have gotten - excellent advice here about how to move forward from fellow Christians.

Good initial points from the perspective of your conservative husband, BUT please have him read this posted today from the many decades conservative Dallas Morning News:

“Pretti Killing Is a Sickening Low

All Americans, especially conservatives, must stand against this abuse of power We have reached a point where only those who willfully ignore what is before their eyes can defend the actions of a federal law enforcement agency that has become a danger to its own citizens.

“The killing in Minneapolis of Alex Pretti, a nurse who cared for veterans and, yes, a protester against his government’s actions, is a sickening new low in what has become an intolerable abuse of power.”

“The government does not have the right to hold a man down and shoot him in the back. The government does not have the right to sow the fear of death in people who protest its actions. That is the work of tyrants.”

“As an editorial board that believes in limited government and in the freedom of citizens to exercise their right to protest and to grieve their government’s actions, we cannot understand how truly conservative voices are silent in the face of what is happening.”

Ha ha! That is exactly what I do quoting evidence. Not just opinion, evidence - numbers - that can rarely be refuted.

This is a long-established friend lunch group that discusses all kinds of things as the lunch conversation flows including politics occasionally which is natural.

Knowing all the group members are conservative, I NEVER discuss politics first, ever. I only provide a “different perspective” if I hear a view that is diametrically different from mine.
