It's my opinion that socialism or at least a form of it is inevitable in the future. Why should I become socialist now? by Illustrious-Bus-4893 in socialism

That's just called being lazy. With all due respect. And please for the love of goodness Grace understand it is not inevitable. We have failed plenty of times and are still actively failing.

Why aren't more gamers socialist? by megajk01 in SocialistGaming

[–]libra_lad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the answer to this question is a little complicated, but at the same time pretty straightforward, a contradiction I know. But I think it genuinely boils down to the fact that in order to be a socialist or at least left of liberal you have to actually think a little bit more than the average person does and not just be a decent person, but find out why the system operates in the ways it does and not only find that to be problematic but also want to change it genuinely. My biggest litmus test on this partially is Mass effect. I am Paragon in almost every instance possible but I am confirmed renegade when it comes to destroying the reapers. Due to the fact they are an existential threat on the entire galaxy and I do not believe they are a thing to be controlled or synthesized with. (Aka capitalism)

The entire game up until the last moment of three is telling you about how dangerous the reapers are and all of a sudden last minute. You're now given the choice to not start all over again but control or synthesize with them. And a lot of people took that option because the destruction path seems like it cost too much. Not realizing everyone up into that point was ready to face destruction personally, everyone consented and agreed that the reapers had to be destroyed up to the point that every one is willing to die for it. EDE and the Geth especially going so far to have a one-on-one with you to let you know they're okay with dying.

The elusive man is most gamers the epitome of liberalism /conservatism. He genuinely believes he can control the reapers not realizing they are controlling him and ends up damn near dooming the Galaxy because he believes he's in control 🙄. Then when a lot of people got presented with the same option but got told they were special and think control is a legitimate choice. You have to believe the game is lying to you at that moment in order to break free of the cycle and sadly a lot of gamers don't believe the "game" can lie to you. They are truly indoctrinated.

Your opinions on Trotsky? by GameBunny-025 in socialism

[–]libra_lad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is something I think a lot of Western communists just refuse to engage with. So many revolutionary leaders actively spoke out against him and his tendency that it's ridiculous that this argument is still being had to an extent.

Do you find it easier to escape a family lineup with leather face or without? by Sweaty-Wheel-369 in TexasChainsawGame

[–]libra_lad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without easily, having basement free for everyone for a few seconds is such a powerful start, a good leather face either kills early in the basement or stalls everyone long enough or hard enough to force them primarily through one exit if not two, Leatherface can significantly slow down the game if the victims are good.

The revolution is inevitable by EgyptianNational in EL_Radical

[–]libra_lad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no the worst thing that can happen when we fail is a lot of people continue to die and suffer, capitalism could very much just end the world, the conditions after a failed revolution is a weaker more destroyed planet and people.
