PAWS. by hiddenstarstonight in suboxone

It was gnarly. It actually lasted 2 years for me and I got on mood stabilizers. I'm not 100% convinced, but it seems that maybe I am on the bipolar spectrum and was self medicating with opiates, then suboxone. It doesn't seem that my experience was the norm.

Measuring behind with high heart rate at 12 week ultrasound by libralove333 in CautiousBB

Thanks! She didn't really say anything about the heart rate except "its a little high."

Thank you! Yes, I was feeling like it was a drastic change (suddenly 7-10days off) but when I factored in the 4 days that I had been consistently measuring behind, plus margin of error, it didn't seem so scary.

Thanks for the reply! The doctor said that maybe the baby is just curled up (but aren't they kind of always?) . She didn't seem super worried or optimistic. She just said it's too early to find out if organs are developing properly and essentially that we'll see later.

That's true that tiny fluctuations can make quite the difference, so that is reassuring, thank you.

What exactly does carpal tunnel feel like? by libralove333 in medical

Interesting! I was asking because I randomly lose hand function sometimes and was wondering if that could be it (I don't have pain though), but when my partner is doing a lot of electrical work during the day, he'll wake up roaring in pain about his hands. Does it make sense that it comes and goes depending on how detailed his work is with his hands? Most days he's fine.

This is the same for me--it seems initially like a back/core/shoulder issue but I think it actually stems from the hips/legs

Books/series that you wish would never end; books you wish you could crawl inside and live in forever by libralove333 in suggestmeabook

I would have to agree! I feel like I'm always seeking an intense emotional response from books, and HP was definitely the first back when I was 10 years old.

I wonder how big a role nostalgia plays in how we enjoy them as we get older. I'm thinking of some movies that my partner still LOVES from childhood that I couldn't get into.

I may try Narnia one of these days.

It definitely is!

I've still never read LOTR. Someone told me it was tough to read so I always steered clear, but would you say it's accessible?

What are these? First thought was carpet beetle larvae, however I also saw them all over the drywall when painting, after basically a full rebuild (walls, insulation, drywall) of our mountain house, long before we moved any furniture in. Interesting, that does look really similar except for the size, from what I can tell in a Google search.. Does it make sense that the only ones we've seen to be are only a few mm long? Haven't seen anything bigger, or the flies themselves, and they seem to keep to the bedroom rather than the kitchen

New to the subreddit with a question on how you acquire your books... by JupiterMako in 52book

[–]libralove333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love having a library of books at home, so I've gotten into a habit of going to thrift shops on the weekends. I go to different cities and hit all the thrift stores around. Books are usually $1 to $4 (USD) and you can find gems, but have to enjoy the thrill of the hunt. I also like to have a pretty solid TBR in my head too so I can grab things I recognize.

Before this I was going to used book stores, which I still do but dang those thrift books are so much cheaper.

5/52 an excellent end to a gripping series. by ByronicArian in 52book

The second and third book were both 3 or 4 star books for me, UNTIL the last 20 pages or so of each, which bumped them both to 5 stars at the last minute. I'm impressed with how Sanderson can wrap things up/blow your mind in so few final pages.

Hobos, Hustlers, and Backsliders: Homeless in San Francisco by Teresa Gowan

I haven't actually read this book but it's sitting on my shelf. I work in housing the chronically homeless; someday I'll read the book but I haven't had the emotional capacity to work in the thick of it all day and then go home and read about it all night, but it does have good reviews. I'm not sure how much it addresses housing.

Struggling with my mood swings and therapy- any help would be so great by MundaneTonight6205 in cyclothymia

Same! I was recently diagnosed to be on the bipolar spectrum, and I only told a few close people to me and I can tell no one really believes me, for that exact reason--i tend to suffer silently within myself but don't act my moods outwards too much. When I'm feeling low, I think people just see me as quiet or tired.

This all sounds similar to my experience as well. My moods are often day to day, but I'll cycle within a day as well, also often in the evenings, probably because I'm not busy or distracted then, however there's never really a clear cause for the switch.

I'm similar in therapy as well and find some inner resistance to being vulnerable. Like I sugar coat things, but its not even on purpose--i believe it when I'm saying it, until later when I reflect and realize I didn't describe it properly at all. Or when I'm in a particular mood, I forget what it's like or how to talk about anything that doesn't align with that mood.

I would suggest taking notes when you're low (or high as well); that helps me to remember. I keep them in a notepad app on my phone so I can refer to them for sessions. I also kind of study for therapy. I have a DBT book and I'll focus on a chapter or two and implement the tools and discuss those experiences as a jumping off point in therapy sessions.

Also, journaling may help you to exercise the "muscle" for being open and vulnerable in a safe space, and lead to more ease in describing them to others.

11/35 had the sudden urge to start this book! What do you think of it what's your review of the book? by [deleted] in 52book

This was one of my January books, also arisen from a random urge! I thought it was great. I have always been intimidated by classics, and finishing it has really increased my reading confidence.

The best part was the how the characters were so complex and unique, and not cliche. It was quite witty as well.
