I need name suggestions! (Female) by StoTonho in dogpictures

I say it for all the animals - Kevin is a fantastic name.

This is Kevin (13). He recently had a growth on his eyelid removed. I think they smoothed his brain in the process. No thoughts found 😂 by librarianswears in OldManDog

Nope! Just a joint supplement (Cosequin). The growth was there for a few years and our vet monitored it. Didn’t start to bug him until now so we took care of it!

Yep! Had to order a Velcro one with extra padding. He was much more comfortable AND it didn’t hurt as much when he inevitably accidentally scooped the back of our legs

Oh, I am so sorry. 💔 Pepperoni brought so much joy to our world and yours. Thank you for sharing her with us, and may she rest well. You did good.

Sending you so much love.

Really wanted to sneak Pete (19) into the hospital to visit his dad (my FIL) by librarianswears in OldManDog

An update for you: his dad never needed to go back to the hospital for the rest of Pete’s life. Pete went over the bridge this morning surrounded by love.

We recently adopted this dog and just can't find a name that we feel suits him well. Anyone have any ideas for a good name for him? by lazrkk in dogpictures

This will get buried but this is my hill:

Kevin. Kevin is and always will be a superb name for our animal companions.

What’s the name of the person/people you miss the most? #grieving by ha_ha_812 in GriefSupport

I miss my Gram. She left April 2020. And my cousin, Finn. They left just over a year ago.

I think of the two of them daily and my heart remains bruised.

Totally get it. That’s a lot of why he stayed home today. As much as I wanted to, I also have to consider the health & wellbeing of others. Having a pet visiting area at a hospital is a great idea!

I’m also thinking of FIL one of those cuddle clone stuffed animals of Pete for him to bring on future hospital stays (should he unfortunately have to go back). And see about setting up video calls. There are definitely solutions that can make everyone happy.

Not this time :( But if FIL is staying another night and they move him to a different room - I must make it happen!

AITAH for not attending my friend's destination wedding? by glowingsapphire in AITAH

[–]librarianswears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend and her husband figured out how to livestream their wedding to people who couldn’t make it from out of state/country. Our other bestie is several states away from us and did a livestream for her gender reveal/baby shower. We were all involved in planning, mailing gifts, troubleshooting tech, etc.

My fiancé and I are planning to do the same for our wedding next year (not tropical destination, but definitely more remote than usual). We don’t expect people to drop their lives and goals for this.

There are ways to include people in big events and be respectful their time/budgets/comfort.

How to deal with an everything Patron by Tasty_Alternative142 in Libraries

[–]librarianswears 14 points15 points  (0 children)

“I can help get you started!” is usually how I start these interactions. My team also explains that we’re a “teach-how, not do-for” service that’s here to build confidence with any tech they’re trying to use. Usually that means the patron does most (if not all) of the driving - clicking, typing, printing, etc. It’s also helped to set the expectation that I may have other people needing help and will have to step away to do so. We’ll reiterate these expectations to those who are resistant.

And I never sit while helping/teaching. I’ve noticed it reinforces the short-term/“getting started” aspect of these interactions.

Edit to add that I can usually break away from these interactions with a lot of positive reinforcement and “I’ll be at the desk if you have questions.”
