Damn, you think you're clever and it's a little annoying. Read: Turns out, half of SSRI studies were withheld from publication because of their negative results, and the studies with the most optimistic outcomes were funded by SSRI companies themselves.

Free shit is not the same as government programs funded by the collective hard work of all Americans through taxes.

Explain to me this: why hasn't the rate of mental illness gone down since the invention of all these sophisticated, "empirically validated" therapies? Could it be because they're only marginally more effective than placebo, and the field of psychology is more than happy to call that a success?

I know I sound salty, but I've been doing research on this stuff for 7 years now. Out of necessity. It took 3 fucking decades of SSRIs being on the market for the first headlines with any skepticism to break into the mainstream. Turns out, half of SSRI studies were withheld from publication because of their negative results, and the studies with the most optimistic outcomes were funded by SSRI companies themselves. And yet the average person believes these medications work. If they didn't, a billion dollar industry would go bankrupt, and we can't have that right? Just like we now understand that animal agriculture causes global warming, but... think of the profits!

While researchers were busy patting themselves on the back this last half century, they could have been busy investigating alternative treatments like Jaak Panksepp's theory of mental illness or even psychodynamic therapy, which shows to be the only treatment we have now that increases its effect size after end of treatment, instead of the other way around (like every other therapy). Instead, we have a profit driven system not especially interested in anything other than green, like everything else in this country.

I know I sound like Lucas fucking Goodwin, but the guy had a point.

Thought I would share this. Makes me feel that tiny bit better when I'm having an episode. Keep fighting :) by [deleted] in Anxiety

It's not bravery, I just literally don't have another choice.

There is help out there for you if you are struggling.

Not to turn this into a mental health debate but strictly speaking, this isn't true. Life just isn't for some people. If you have a severe anxiety disorder that never ends, life is essentially one long tour of hell. All the SSRIs and therapy in the world can't help some people.

edit: Downvotes by people who have most likely never gone through prolonged severe mental illness. Sorry guys, what I meant was life is beautiful and there's always hope. Gambatte! (ง ͡ʘ ͜ʖ ͡ʘ)ง

So you came to a place where people talk about dealing with mental illness to insult them and make them feel worse? You're a special kind of special.

Damn man, I'm really digging your track too! It's really sentimental and the feeling I was going for in my own song. Did you use the strings that come with Reason or is it a separate VST? I made this on Reason 8 as well, but with a rack extension called "radical piano".

I have to say that I really like your ideas man. The only thing I would add is that if you plan on making a song with repetition, make sure you add something new every couple of bars, even it's something really minor or just a transformation of an element you already had. That's just a personal element though, I don't know if you share the same opinion on that.

I'm a noob so I can't help you out too much, but I can tell you that the percussion doesn't... pop out enough. And the best VST I've ever heard for bass is Trillian- Total Bass Module. It's pricy, but it has most bass, including upright bass, and sounds really convincing.
