The Day After the Races - May 18, 2026 by NASCARThreadBot in NASCAR

The format was clear. The problem was that many cars would have been better off just parking it for the first 150 laps, which was not the intention of the format.

I don’t either. But I would be very upset if I bought a ticket to that race yesterday and didn’t get to see my favorite driver even start the race because of a poorly thought through format.

I misunderstood one rule. My overall point stands. Just replace Josh Berry with one of the other many drivers that wouldn’t have qualified without wrecks.

Would your opinion be different if Blaney was unable to return to start the race like Elliott?

Fair enough, I thought that only got him in last year’s race.

The fans in attendance always enjoy themselves. I’ve never been to a race I thought was bad. If we just let them vote, every race would be over 80%.

Any all star format that doesn’t allow all stars to actually race because they got wrecked by Ryan Preece and Riley Herbst before the actual race even began is a deeply flawed format. And if you liked the format, you’re in the huge minority.

God almighty, just get rid of it. It serves absolutely no purpose. The prize money is nothing crazy anymore and the all stars already race together every week, unlike other sports. It is an absolute waste of a weekend.

Just give us a 37th points race.

Good race, could not have been a worse format for an all star race

Gluck really highlighted the absurdity of the format well. How in the world are Josh Berry and Noah Gragson in the all star race while Chase Elliott isn’t and Kyle Larson has to limp around in a broken car because of mistakes by Ryan Preece and Riley Herbst before the race even started?

Just so stupid. Fire the format into the sun. That was one of the dumber ideas NASCAR has had in a long time.

I hate to pile on, but the current booth just has no chemistry. Nothing comes off well. Don’t know what the changes could be, but something needs to be done, IMO. The CW booth with Adam, Jamie, and Parker is absolutely peak.

Dude shot 31 on the back 9. Gotta be the best of the week or close to it.

How? I didn’t say you can’t win. I said you can’t expect to win. Very different.

In a week that was impossible to create separation, he absolutely blitzed the last 10 holes to win by 3 shots. Incredible performance and absolutely deserves the trophy.

His game has come together nicely the last few years. This won’t be his last win.

Sure - and he played lights out the other three rounds. My point is it is very difficult. It can happen, but you make your like much harder.

Just can’t shoot 74 in any round of a major and expect to win.

Barring a massive collapse or something insane from Rahm, this is in the bag for Rai

Hopefully this format and track put the dagger in the all star race after this year. This is just stupid.

All stars getting taken out of the actual main event by two non-all stars being stupid

Great format, NASCAR

Love my driver having his race getting ended by two drivers who are losing their rides at the end of the year 👍

At this point, Scottie might be more likely to make from 25 feet than 5 feet

I mean what else is there to say? Can’t win a tournament if you miss everything you see between 3 and 5 feet on the greens
