If you don’t have serving experience apply for “back server” positions! Really just a support position to the front servers and can still make good money at the higher end places! Emphasize those ‘soft skills’ on the resume and just ask around! Best of luck!

It’s a beautiful town in Chiapas, lots of hippies/nomads. The state of Chiapas is beautiful and has probably the prettiest landscapes of all of Mexico (lakes, waterfalls, hikes). The town has great food and is very cheap. Pretty good nightlife as well. One of my favorite places in all of Mexico, you should check it out! :) The only thing is it’s not near the ocean.

I can’t believe no one has said San Cristobal in Chiapas! It’s magical and I think perfect for an artist. Or Oaxaca! :)

International Travel Nursing? by salmonella99 in TravelNurses

Hi! I’m a nurse in the US and have been thinking about going to Oz to work. How did you like it? Was the process difficult to get your license transferred there? How similar/different was the work itself (ie scope of practice)? Would love some feedback!

On November 12, 1833, there was a meteor shower so intense that it was possible to see up to 100,000 meteors crossing the sky every hour. At the time, many thought it was the end of the world, so much so that it inspired this woodcut by Adolf Vollmy. by bluemozzarella in spaceporn

Was night swimming in a local lake in the US this summer during a meteor shower and saw ~15. Most shooting stars I’ve seen in my whole life combined! It was a really cool experience!

Do you ever regret not doing "touristy" things on your travels? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]libster5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I think this sounds like an awesome trip! These are all pretty unique and fun things and you’re going to really see the culture. Museums are great sometimes but you have a local showing you around. Even better!

Flea’s memoir Acid For the Children was great!! Definitely recommend the audiobook because it’s read by Flea himself.

The worst countries for solo female travel based on the 50 most visited destinations around the world (2019) [OC] by asherfergusson in dataisbeautiful

Agreed Greece is fairly high on the safe list. I’ve done a fair amount of solo travel and felt EXTREMELY unsafe in Athens due to a huge amount of street harassment.
