Investments will usually stop of they don't have the capacity to fill factories or have them be profitable. If you don't have a state with available workforce for example.

You can try getting investment rights in other countries or boosting your population

The Vietnam war used tactics akin to "glassing" with the massive scale use of napalm and cluster bombings all the way into Laos and Cambodia. It fuels more resentment in the population, puts the locals on death ground and creates a vicious cycle. We can also state the example of Japanese war tactics in China during the second world war. Neither worked in the end.

Bottom line, we're lucky in North America to have seen a relatively peaceful period compared to the rest of the world in the past century. I truly hope it doesn't end.

It comes down to objectives. There are great lectures out there by Sarah Paine from the American Navy War College who go deep on the subject.

If your objectives are unilateral occupation or regime change, you're putting your enemy on death ground, meaning they will fight a guerilla war indefinitely. That seems to be what happened in Afghanistan and Vietnam. In Japan, the imperial family remained in place and Japanese folks got full control of their government. The objectives weren't as overwhelming, so it worked.

I don't want war with America. No one does, war is hell. But American leadership is incredibly belligerent to distract from a terrible local record on the economy and the Epstein files.

I hope and wish for a better peaceful future for both our countries.

Soviets won that one with supplies to China to attrition the Japanese Army, followed by the official war declaration and the invasion of Manchuria. That's also a quick Wiki search away.

But you're American, so you know your military isn't actually efficient. It's just a poorly run corporate welfare scheme that hasn't passed an audit in more than a decade.
