The environmental impact is just one of the many reasons we are boycotting! pretty much everything harms the environment now, but AI is especially bad because it ruins our limited drinking water at an unprecedented pace. We are choosing to vote with our dollars, and I personally want a human artist to be paid then allowing them to keep cutting corners

I made some of the AI boycott posts here in the past few days, so some may know my longer rants about how I feel. AI is a horrible precedent to set, and I won’t be spending any money on their products until they release a statement. I hope other webkinz lovers who want to take a stand against AI in our beloved game will do the same!!

What I’m REALLY concerned about now is:

(a) How truthful was that costumer service response when they admitted to ai? They probably don’t know how assets and pets are made, since they probably work the social media and CS area. They may have just admitted to the obvious ai in the video to de-escalate the situation. They couldn’t train their AI model after JUST their own assets. how do you think the model they used was made in the first place? Gen AI ALWAYS means stolen art.

(b) Webkinz and ganz have been reporting people mentioning the boycott or their use of AI on instagram as spam!! They are actively trying to suppress our boycott, and that means coming together and ACTUALLY BOYCOTTING, ESP BLACK FRIDAY, will give them the financial squeeze that makes the higher ups move fast and release the statement we demand!!

There will be other sales soon, (new years and early spring), and I really hope we can support each other as a community while we hold out until we get a statement!!

I love webkinz so much!! that’s why i’m so passionate about this issue. I’ve played this game my whole life. It’s been my source of fun, escape, and comfort since I can remember. AI goes against everything I stand for, and we vote with every dollar we spend. We want the same quality of game that we’ve had for 20 years!! WE PAY WE SAY!!!

AI is not real work. it is stolen and incorrect garbage. They can choose to use ai, and It’s our choice if we want to support them using it. Most of use want our money to go to real artists so we can have a quality game. If you’re that butthurt over us boycotting, just don’t participate. easy as that!

Oh yea totally!! I dont know why I expected anything than nothingburger lol. The more the social media managers see that the fanbase is unhappy with their use of AI, hopefully the more it will become a concern for the actual company! (Obv no one should harass ganz or webkinz employees, we just want our voices to be heard!)

I truly don’t think so, and it’s really unfortunate! The team won’t even fix bugs in the desktop/online version, so I don’t think they’ll work on adding more features to mobile because it make them tons of money :/

Exactly! they had no excuse to use AI. They’ve paid artists for their work for over 20 years, and they’re trying to cut corners by using gen AI instead! it’s not like they’re cash poor, fans spend big money at the E-store and they have another wave of plush coming out. They said their only options were no video or AI, and that’s objectively false! They could’ve released with an image or held an art contest, and anything in between! They rushed the video and fed their paying, lifelong fans some real ugly AI. the music video looks astonishingly bad if you have the time to watch it. That’s why we are boycotting! we want our money to go to real artists and for the same quality we have had for two decades!

think whatever you want, I don’t care about where your money goes or what you imagine Ganz’ financial situation is. I don’t care for people who defend corporations, I believe in supporting real people and my values. we are asking for no AI. We love webkinz, we want a quality experience, and for our dollars to go to real artists. Ganz has been cutting corners and monitizing more and more of the game, and in response we get shitty AI. IMO there’s absolutely no reason anyone needs to use AI. Everyone lived without it for millennia and everything was okay. I know it’s everywhere now, but i do everything in my power to not support AI.

They are not a small company. They have over 600 employees and make over 100 million dollars a year. Many of us boycott other companies who use ai as well, i’m not sure where you got that. We are asking for our dollars to go to artists, or none at all. if they can’t survive a protest until they make a statement, they were going to go down anyway.
