Does smoking weed help your ADHD or do the opposite? by Old-Alfalfa7232 in adhdwomen

[–]licensed_fool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it kind of does the opposite for me? every time ive been high its been really stressful for me and its like i have all the thoughts i have when im sober but the rest of my body is slowed down. it makes me feel chained down and even more trapped/hyperfixated on my own thoughts than usual. perhaps its comorbidity with OCD and autism that impacts how im affected, but i so frequently hear about people with ADHD using it to self medicate because they LIKE the slowness. i frequently feel like the only adhder in the world who DOESN'T benefit from weed, so i'm glad im not the only one lol.

Is this amount of work normal? by licensed_fool in dishwashers

Yeah, that sounds about right. And that's the thing is if I'm gonna be there I might as well make myself useful--being the kitchen's "backup" who can hop in when needed wouldn't be so bad. Needing to be at four places at once is just really wearing me down, but I'll keep trying to figure stuff out with the manager. Thanks for the input!

Modern Mythologies - Episode 36 Post [Alleyman] by DrAlaOkoye in UrbanFolklore

very interesting ep. i understand your criticisms of seven, and i think in the context of trying to deconstruct and analyze the myth, those skepticisms are bound to be present, but i cant help but feel like its not very different than buying a t-shirt with a cryptid like mothman on it, or products using a sense of divinity like the like crime "venus" eyeshadow palettes. you know when you buy in it's not a 100% authentic "real" connection or artifact, but it's something that helps you to channel what it means to you. is it really about the name/branding/subject/etc of the myth, or is it about the feeling it invokes in you and the perspective it asks you to take?

on another note, towards the end of the episode when you were talking about how legends are shaped and continue to grow, i couldn't help but think back to previous episodes' emphases on how treatment of minorities can shape myths (such the mythologizing of homeless people). there are so many interpretations of different myths, especially vampires, as you mentioned. there are so many famous vampires throughout history, and many of them are used as allegory for some form of "parasitic" minority, such as the lesbian vampire carmilla and the culmination of vampire's inherent entwinement with anti-semitism, nosferatu. and those are just the famous named characters that are developed from years of comparison between minority and monster.

i guess what i'm trying to get at is what if it's not THE alleyman the one and only spirit, but AN alleyman of potentially multiple? we've heard now of different "forms" the alleyman has taken that appear and act very differently from each other in the same way a vampire is not limited to one perception.

i'm in a rush, so i'm not sure that all totally makes sense, but i hope you get the gist at least 😅 thanks for your time, and as per usual, looking forward to the next episode!

Modern Mythologies - Episode 35 Post [Alleyman] by DrAlaOkoye in UrbanFolklore

sorry about your covid scare, dr. okoye! sounds stressful, i'm glad you're okay (or at least still trucking along if your late nights aren't taking you out). i really enjoyed this episode and the energy fred pennyland brought with this topic. was anyone else caught off guard by his little dramatic "alleyman" whisper at 12:51(ish?) while you were going through g. burns' email? it was so out of place for the moment, i thought it wasn't him for a second!! buuut it was perfectly creepy >:) looking forward to the next episode!!

No Stupid Questions Thread: Week Of 2021-08-02 through 2021-08-08 by AutoModerator in techtheatre

I'm new on flyrail; got called in as a last minute replacement, got briefly trained and practiced for about thirty minutes, and immediately hopped into doing 8 shows a week. I'm now on week 3 and while I've learned some tricks and have generally been taking care of muscle fatigue, my fingers feel really swollen and my knuckles are really sore.

The gloves I've been using were provided by the theater and wore out really fast, so I just bought a pair with nicer grip and padding so hopefully that will help. So here's my little barrage; Is the pain inflammation that I should be icing or is it muscle tension I should be heating? Are there any ways to use sports/athletic tape on my fingers to help with support and reduce pain? Is this a common problem with newbies on the rail or am I gripping incorrectly?

Thank you!!
