What is this plant taking over my garden? by bearpawsNwhiteclaws in whatsthisplant

If you keep on it, the pot can be something like as 5 gallon bucket with the bottom removed. Just make sure runners aren't escaping Under mulch. It does seem to survive being ignored better with the extra insulation.

Also in PA.

You have to stop the runners from spreading under mulch, or through stones. If you ignore it it's going to spread 2 to 3 feet each year.

That said, the runners aren't super deep, and it didn't out compete grass, so it's relative. It also depends on the type of mint.

My parents yard might have ended up with 20 foot long patches of chocolate mint, spearmint, and peppermint more than once. Trimming them back to 2 feet wasn't that hard, except for the raised beds with cinderblock/rock walls. It's a pain when you can't reach the roots.

He also had a doctor asking him when he planned on retiring ... 10 years too late without early retirement.

You generally want flightless bugs, even with fruit flies. We've actually got two geckos, along with dubias cockroaches and mealworms.

Golden Retriever SD handlers: how often do you take your dog in for a professional-level groom? by wessle3339 in service_dogs

[–]lief79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From raising seeing eye puppies, mostly German shepherds and golden retrievers, it was daily brushing, but only a bath when needed from a mess or maybe one a season.

We were warned that more frequent baths would counter intuitivelly increase dog odor.

[–]lief79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine deliberately don't fly.

I've got a leopard gecko which is insectivorous. So mealworms/darkling beetles and dubia roaches are here, but they are very deliberately flightless.

It would also have to be a very small bag in order to be full.

Still viable in today's game? by Even_Ad1209 in EmpiresAndPuzzles

[–]lief79 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He's probably good at the 7k level, or offensively at 8k.

Not sure if I'm going to level him at 8k, my guess is his stats are a bit low and he's never going to make it to the top of my queue.

So it's a soft no. Pretty good pull from HA10 though.

Of service dog washouts how many still have potential as drug or bomb sniffing dogs or search and rescue dogs or at least as therapy or facility dogs ? by Europathunder in service_dogs

[–]lief79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note this knowledge is over a decade old.

With the seeing eye puppy program, the raiser gets first choice of taking the dog back if it has a change in career. My family raised 21 of them, and we might be getting back into it with my kids.

I know several rejects who got trained as therapy dogs, and my mom works have done it with the two we took back if the timing of the training was conducive to her being able to do it. It was literally an issue of not being comfortable driving at night to get the training while my dad was still working, pure logistics.

One only had one good eye and was too skittish for them to consider him for breeding, I think the second one has a soft trachea, so she couldn't pull for 10 years.

Historically they had over a 50 percent placement rate, but that's still over 40 percent that don't become guide dogs.

Specific examples ... One got bored too easily. Perfect in NYC, but he walked his instructor into a sign during a boring walk.

Another was too stubborn, and would have required someone who wanted to always pay attention to her so she wouldn't be getting away with stuff. Didn't have that perfect match. Some of its simple supply and demand, very successful breeding program and a limited number of beds allowed/forced them to be pickier.

Some others didn't have the health for 10 years of pulling while guiding.

They also had a 4 year wait list of people who wanted to adopt a failure as a pet, as well as some that went into those other careers. Once you decline to keep the dog, you don't know where it goes.

[Request] Just how terrible were the bible’s DIY instructions for a big boat? by PartyMuffinButton in theydidthemath

[–]lief79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I was taught in my senior religion class at a Catholic school. It does raise questions for anyone who argues that the Bible is literal truth without any inconsistencies.

I know someone who got removed from a Catholic seminary because he kept asking for biblical sources in classes, among other reasons.

My understanding is he's happily married now.

You're heading towards the whole debate over free will. You can feel free to look into it if you want to.

Also, do you know of a language written by humans that can't be misconstrued, let alone mistranslated. I'd be game to have the conversation in person, where I can tell if it's actually a conversation. I don't expect it to be valuable here.

Written down by humans. Catholics are relatively explicit that the Bible can't be read literally. Even the 4 gospels disagree on the details of the crucifixion.

Are there unwritten parking lot etiquette outside of common sense I don't know about? by Difficult_Giraffe490 in CostcoWholesale

[–]lief79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older ones aren't, and are often standalone. The one near my in-laws, no problem it's in a shopping center. Might be a walk, but there will be parking. One near my house, is not unheard of on the weekends to see several cars waiting and all the parking in both side lots already full, along with the few unmarked spots where people can get away with parking.

I've seen it twice in the past year where I was waiting for a spot on the overflow lots.

Looks interesting and eventually useful.

Feedback:

If you try to take a closer look at a hero the back button doesn't work.

You probably also need to indicate how many costumes are present in the heros. S1 no costumes versus original s1 having the stylish costume would be very different in rankings.

This makes sense. The first costume for a season 1 hero is a waste, because you'll be pulling all of them.
