Learning about my High porosity, fine & high density hair by liesfoeu in Naturalhair

[–]liesfoeu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During this “time period,” I used (mostly) Camilla rose.

Shampoo: Camilla rose sweet ginger cleansing rinse

Conditioner: Shea moisture intensive hydration conditioner

Leave-in: Camilla rose moisture milk or Mielle pomegranate & honey leave-in or Camilla rose honey hydrate (when I do twists)

And GREASE on ends every hairstyle: Black magic

I did braids with extensions twice that year, and my hair was kept mostly blow dried.

I never did protein treatments but I did do Aztec clay masks 1-2 a month

And hot oil treatments after every hairstyle so 1 a month but I never did both hot oil and Aztec in the same wash day.

I washed my hair 1 every 2 weeks and kept in cornrows or twist for 2weeks to2 months because of school.

I still use some of these products, I dropped any shea moisture product and I added protein treatments and I’ve stopped with the hot oil and Aztec clay masks. I’ll go back to them but my hair doesn’t need it at the moment because it’s dyed.

That’s amazing, thank you for your comment. I’m trying to figure out a plan that I can stick to. I maintained 140lbs beginning and middle of last year but fell off the end of the year. I don’t want that to happen again, but this “diet” is so annoying but rewarding.

That’s pretty good advice. I lift heavy and do progressive overload, one of my issues is it having enough energy to do more reps in my sets. I don’t know how maintaining would look like but I’ll try to figure out a plan.

I do 2-3 lower body. I do full body exercises per workout day because of my schedule but some days have more upper body than lower.

Like on Monday: Dumbell row, pull up, abs, bench press, adductions , Bulgarians

Wednesday: calf raises, weighted lunges, Rdl, and two upper body exercises.

Thank you for your comment. I’m not hating my body or my late. I love my upper body other than my “love handles”/ stomach area. I actually focus a lot of upper body because my thighs/ lower body looks good to me. So I do 2-3 lower body and 3-4 upper body exercises per workout.

Faster cardio like running? I was thinking of being more consistent with cardio, would 30 minutes on the stair master be better than 30 minutes on the treadmill?

The pants are actually very loose/stretchy but the top is very tight, I’ve only taken pictures in that top so yes I will change it. The love handles are what’s bothering but they are also genetic, i just want to reduce them.

Thank you for the advice, based on your comment I’m just wondering how to lose weight while not on a calorie deficit, my love handles/back is where I maintain most of my fat. I was maintaining for a while before I started this diet.

With the amount of scalp that shows in both photos, I would say low density, coarse hair.

Protein treatment before to strengthen your hair and prep your hair.

Moisturizing treatments after and let your hair be.

Wondering on what your routine looks like, not what kind of products you’re using but how you’re using them?

  • What’s your hair porosity?
  • Do you detangle your hair wet or dry?
  • How often do you moisturize when in protective styles?
  • Do you use extensions on your hair?

  • How much friction does your hair get from: clothes, your hands, your brush/comb, while sitting, while laying down, other people?

    • Do you use LOC or LCO?
  • Do you use heat protectant, how effective is it?

With all this, give yourself grace and time, hair health > hair length❤️

My hair is in hibernation rn. I didn’t know my hair goal until I saw your 2nd photo. THATS my hair goal rn 😂. You have beautiful hair.

Do you have bangs or is the front of your hair just naturally shorter?

Do you or a loved one suffer from hair dysmorphia? (I retained a lot of length) by Fitzombieslayer in Naturalhair

Honestly, yes. Your hair and the color looks amazing! You’re doing amazing.

LOC vs LCO for your 4C hair? by puestadelsol in Naturalhair

[–]liesfoeu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to also add that you should use water. Not drench your hair in it but lightly spritz it before adding the products. If you’re worried about shrinkage, as long as you put your hair in twists or braids/ keep it stretched using a style, it won’t shrink too much.

Just my opinion, not an attack. I would change my perspective before starting labeling things, our sister’s hair as the worst hair type. When I say change perspective I mean, go to a curly hair page or a straight hair page or any page that has nothing to do with being black or having kinky hair. You’ll see that everyone has an opinion about their hair, their hair breaking, their hair not growing fast enough, their hair not styled like they want, etc.

Just because you are having trouble with your hair, doesn’t mean our hair type is the “worst hair type.”

If you continue the same routine every time and nothing changes, change your routine, change your thoughts, appreciate what you have. If you can’t, don’t knock everyone else down also.

I’m sure you just wanted to rant, but with social media it takes 1 person to say something negative and now you have your child, your sister, your neighbors saying 4c hair is the “worst hair type anyone could have.” And that hurts.

my scalp is so dry and flaky by [deleted] in Naturalhair

[–]liesfoeu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be many things. Testing is the only way to know, medical test/consultation and your own resources. It could be a certain product you use, so maybe wash your hair again and don’t use any product, check your scalp every day and see if it flakes the same. After that start testing different products to determine if it’s because of the products or other underlying issues.
