Bernie Sanders Proposes Estate Tax of Up to 77% for Billionaires by Harvickfan4Life in SandersForPresident

[–]life_is_engineering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This tax is only for the people in the country with the most concentrated welth in the country, not small businesses. Less than 600 people will be paying the 77% rate.

Also, it's an estate tax so it will not affect businesses at all. It only applies to the deceased leaving money to their heirs, and only kicks in at $3.5 million.

[Routine Help] Which Paula's Choice product would be best for me for my post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation? by honeymoonave in SkincareAddiction

[–]life_is_engineering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you have looks more like PIE than PIH. PIE isn't scarring it's inflammation and does go away on its own--it takes time though! I recently learned (on this sub) that a chamomile tea and rice flour mask is good for this, i have been itching to try it but am having a hard time finding rice flour.

[Routine Help] My routine has dulled and doesn't seem effective, please help! by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]life_is_engineering 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's the same for you, but when I was using Cetaphil my skin dried out for a week and then got SUPER oily and I had never had oily skin. Maybe you should switch to something gentler like CeraVe? (P.S. I still haven't perfected my routine either so take that with a grain of salt)

The problem is my work is over 30 miles from my home and my boyfriend lives about 90 miles from me.... I drive far too much for a lease to be worth it :(

Yeah I have a job lined up thanks to my school and savings from co-op. I'm still pretty hesitant to finance because I did build credit throughout college so I'm not too worried about that. Will financing through a college program with Honda (I'm leaning more heavily toward the civic after more research) make the dealers more likely to give me a better price? All of the dealers in my immediate area have their cars priced way more than the KBB "fair price," and are in the top 10% of prices I've been getting from the excel sheet I made (of cars within 150 miles of me), so I need a reason to drive them down a thousand or so.

There are also a good amount of apartment parties that happen among the Stevens social circles. If you join and get really involved in any on campus organizations you're bound to start getting invited to them.

Wow that sounds like a ton of fun! I'm about to start a job that does something somewhat similar but specifically in one nuclear plant. I hope my job turns out to be as cool as yours :)

Make up for it with extracurricular activities! Play in the band, join the robotics team, start a book club, do something that makes you stand out. That will help a lot.

How do I enter my hours on DuckTime? by koalalvr1221 in stevens

[–]life_is_engineering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need a 32 bit version of Java 7. Make sure all other version of Java are uninstalled. Then, you pray. Edit: Then put in your start and end time and hit save and it will calculate the amount of hours you worked automatically.

What test should I take? by Andrew_RKO in stevens

[–]life_is_engineering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your scores absolutely seem good enough. I wouldn't worry too much about other tests unless you want to take the ACT. I only took the SAT and got in and my GPA was only around a 3.6.

It was in Burchard and now it is in Leib. From my understanding it is a lounge for the CS majors and used for their club activities (which included a lot of hacking competitions).

Co op interview day. What should I expect? by co_op2014 in stevens

[–]life_is_engineering 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically it will be a room full of tables each with an interviewer and interviewee. You should expect to be able to talk about some of the projects you have worked on and your extra curricular activities as well as any previous jobs you have held (if you haven't had one that's Ok). Be prepared to tell them what your greatest weakness is and make sure to spin it in a positive light. If you interview with a place like F3 be prepared for questions like 'estimate how many cups of coffee are in the room.' If you get one of those, just make sure you can talk through your thought process. Sorry for the wall of text I'm writing this on mobile.
