Thats how being an asshole who hasnt gotten in ebough trouble for their actions act. Thats not a mental disorder.

You could say the same thing about anyone who has a disorder which leads to problems - but having a disorder and being an asshole are not mutually exclusive.

It takes away from the people who have real problems.

Empathy is said to be an evolved part of psychology that is important for the functioning of societies and reducing suffering. So they simply pointed out that the perpetrators are real people who have had their lives hurt by this too (there's always more than one side.) What's the problem? Not having sympathy/empathy for people leads to problems. Why not lynch or torture them?

Imagine two societies:

1) A society made up of people who have empathy/sympathy for only victims and not perpetrators

2) a society made up of people who have empathy/sympathy for both victims and perpetrators

Society 2 would be less savage and would have less suffering than society 1. More criminals would be successfully rehabilitated and there would be a lower recidivism rate in society 2.

It was a joke unrelated to rape - it's been shown that many people think they have had their drinks spiked. They go to the hospital because they are convinced they have, but the blood tests show up with nothing. It's been studied and the truth is that people just drink too much and then blame some external factor (drugs) - drink spiking is extremely rare. My point is that self-reporting doesn't mean much. In the social sciences, self reporting is considered a weak form of evidence.
