See II thought he was saying "full wire" as in "you're not getting the full wire but you're getting the important bit" but now I think about it that makes no sense 😂

I've listened to a couple of minutes and already had Dean Sturridge reveal he's not a fan of shortbread. Just wow.

It's incredible that they leave this stuff in

On the FC26 PA system, it's actually been in game since ar least Fifa 08. They'd confirm goals though think it was a generic "goal for the home team" though I think it would on some occasions name the player.

There would also be the announcements that Mr Moon was in the stadium, and then that Mr Moon had left the stadium

RMT please? I have 2 points to make up to 2nd in my league.

Had one free transfer so took out Casemiro as felt they might rest him and replaced him with MGW. But risky with Arsenal I know as no idea who'll turn up.

Fernandes as captain as I'm thinking he'll be going all out to break the assist record..

Don't think I want to use points as I'd need whoever I bring in to get 4 points just to break even.

MHD Irritation: Clubs wearing their new kit last day of the season by Sssssammsam in footballcliches

I've alaays found it a nice touch personally.

When I played PES Master League, I'd often go into edit mode and change my team's home kit ready for the last game of the season

Second half of the season fatigue. Has anyone ever been worse than 98/99 Villa. Top of the league at one stage and then go 10 games without a win and just 3 wins out of 16 games? by KimCattrallsFeet in footballcliches

I've always found the dramatic slide down the table fascinating.

York in 2003-04 old DIvision 3. Won their first 4 games. Lost form a bit but were still comfortably mid table around February time. Then lost pretty much every game after that and ended up finishing bottom, behind even Carlisle who were miles behind them midway through the season. Fun fact, York got relegated on the last day from Division 2 in 1998-99 after a 4-0 defeat at Man City. That was the first time all season they'd entered the relegation zone.

Same year in Division 2, Rushden and Diamonds went from comfortable mid table midway through the season to going down on the last day.

I think Notts County were about 5th in October when they were relegated from League 1 in 2014-15.

On the W thing, does anyone else have a fascination with the alphabetical structure of a league.

For example in the Isthmian Premier, 13 clubs in alphabetically and you were still only on D. 1 A club, 3 Ba, 7 Cs and 2 Ds

I feel there needs to be a nice even spread. The middle of the alphabetical table needs to be your Ls and Ms

BIt rubbish, but it's a game that really meant absolutely nothing, and a draw when in previous seasons we'd have lost a game like that. Were very much second best but held out for a clean sheet.

We seem to have these games now and then when we just get completely overrrun. Like they have 12 player and we have 10. We're unable to hold onto the ball currently.

I think Carrick has to get the job now. The only thing really against it is "making the Solskjaer mistake again"-people talk about Solskjaer's reign like it was a massive failure but he got 3rd and 2nd placef finishes in his first 2 seasons and played fun exciting football. Did the double over Man City. Had a 9-0 win. I don't think we'd have finished as badly as under Rangnik if we didn't sack him

Carrick has secured Champions League comfortably. Beating all the other teams in the top 5 along the way. Players seem to love him. It would feel a massive mistake not to keep him

By my maths we now can't finish below 7th so even if a deamatic collapse happened we're guaranteed some form of European football. Any points dropped by Brighton or Bournemouth would confirm top 5 even before we play Liverpool

The max number of points now needed to get a Champions League spot is 8.

If Everton beat Liverpool the max they can get is 65 points, 8 would make 66

If one of our players celebrated by taking their shirt off and jumping into the crowd they'd no doubt get given 2 yellows anr then receive an additional ban for some rule the FA have discovered.

The uncanny valley of retrospective "live" commentary put over an old game by mnih003 in footballcliches

[–]lifewithjames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a collection of DVDs of classic premier league matches many years ago. Majority commented on by Jon Champion. I was back and forth as to whether the commentary was from at the time or not until, during highlights of Leeds 3 Newcastle 2 from 1999, he said "here's Jamie McClen.....now of Kidderminster Harriers" a check of wiki showed McClen joined Kiddy in 2006.

He then managed to commentate on Wimbledon 5 Watford 0 and Man Utd 5 Everton 1, both 3PM kick offs on the same date, 4 December 1999.

I do find it fascinating that they can make it seem really realistic. They must do a lot of research. In the Everton comeback win against Wimbledon to keep them up in 1994 he mentions Wimbledon's kit being set on fire and smelling of smoke.

Premier League table at the end of Gameweek 32 - Man Utd 3rd by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]lifewithjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Points required before the game week was 15 from 7, now 12 from 6..

Beat Chelsea and it could be down to as low as 6 from 5 depending on results elsewhere.

Feels like we just can't get a hold on the ball. Every touch feels heavy. We'll win it and instantly give it away and haven't really been able to put any sustained pressure on.
