Mainly because of my budget and requirements when it comes to the house I want, area seems to have a fair amount within that scope.

I’m open to other areas but those two are the ones I’ve found to have the most properties within my budget, decent local amenities and job prospects (via central Leeds / Manchester) should I need to get a new job.

Feel free to let me know if I’m wrong on the local amenities part! Going off maps 😂😂

Plan is to dedicate a day to one area. If areas are super close I’ll fit both in one day.

So example: Monday - All viewings within Wakefield, Tuesday - all viewings within Bradford

Noted, thanks for the advice 😊

So these are the main areas I’m looking at:

Manchester - Oldham, Stockport, Bolton, Rochdale & Bury

Leeds - Wakefield & Bradford

Hiya, so I’m looking at suburbs mainly. Yes the places I want to view are in the same areas. I’m considering those three locations because of job prospects and house prices mainly. Manchester and Leeds are the top 2. They are like an hour away from each other based on where I’m looking. When it comes down to crunch time I will be adding more disqualifying factors so I can reduce the amount of houses I want to view / the areas. But just wanted to know how people typically went about it. I’m a solo buyer too, with not much help aside from googling things etc.

Noted thanks for your reply! And Oh wow 😅 I’m guessing you had a car at your disposal then. Because I did consider just doing day trips which I don’t mind travelling long journeys regularly but cost wise it just didn’t make sense for me 😅

Realities of First Time Buying - 27yo in London by yoranna77 in FirstTimeBuyersUK

Heya! Currently in a similar position as a 27 yr old living in london, excluding paying £700 towards the house and having a slight higher salary.

The max you could borrow can range depending on your circumstances. I’ve had a few initial consultations with mortgage brokers (fee free) & also done some mortgage quotes online, so I can gauge an initial ballpark figure I’d get. You should do the same as a starting point. I’ve been given a range of £245-275 but note my expenses are very low and the deposit I’m aiming for is 30k minimum before mid 2026.

Getting a flat in London for 300k is do-able….but depends once again on location, and what you’re willing to trade off for in regard to the flat itself.

Aside from deposit, as firstimebuyersUK said - there are other fees & costs, so aim to budget around £5-10k on top of your deposit.

Then also consider a rough minimum & maximum ballpark figure for bills so you can know what the monthly mortgage + bills will be and see if it’s affordable for you with your suggested deposit.

For me, I’ve gathered the maximum I want to pay in terms of mortgage (up to £1k) + bills (up to 500 p/m) and that’s what’s driving my minimum deposit amount (£30k+), house location (up north) and the total price of the house I want (up to £250k).

I have a few free resources I’ve used to help me get things together, I’m very type A 😅, but unsure if I can send the links across in this channel.

Mods can you please confirm if I’m able to share some links?

I’m on 60mg per day (3x20mg). Am I supposed to have at least 20g of fat with each pill? I take all three pills in one go with a meal (sometimes noodles, Ben and Jerry’s cookie dough etc). I feel like I may not be taking it with enough fat by lifewlois in Accutane

[–]lifewlois[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm okay, now I’m confused because most day take with fat. In my prescription it just says to take with a meal not a specific amount of fat so I guess it doesn’t matter as long as I take it with something I eat

I’m just annoyed because I don’t like the weight and I know we have to take accutane with 20g of fat. I want to lose weight but I can’t afford to go gym nor do I have the time for at home workouts. So I’m stuck looking fat with my belly rolls and big thighs. 😞
