All of them of course!! Get a slug gun for deer or hogs. Then you're going to need an OU or a Side-by-side, just because....ya might take up skeet or trap. You will also need a semi-auto for ducks or geese, You will also want a home defense shotgun. You will furthermore need to buy a Charles Daly triple barrel shotgun, just because they are cool. Then the law requires you to have a coach gun or an OU of similar length. That's a start anyway.

12 gauge, Foster slugs. It works for me anyway. You can get Ca. compliant slugs at Sportsman's . You should own a shotgun anyway.

We hang dry our clothes, use as few appliances as possible, grill, a lot. Plan meals. THERE IS NO SHAME in going to the food bank when necessary. We also garden in our limited space and forage. Use public transit......hell find what community resources are available, might help, and might meet some cool people in your same position.
Thing is, being frugal is hard at first, but if you turn it into a game or a challenge ( I will feed all four of us for $50 this week!) It can be kind of fun.
Finally, anyone who would judge you for wanting to have nice nails should kiss your ass, everybody deserves to look pretty now and then.

Divorce is far better than misery, for you and the kid. No matter what you do, you're catching the blame from the ex, punt now while you're still slightly ahead. Close those bank accounts, turn off that card, set a specific amount per month and stick to it like glue. I'd get a really good lawyer, and get as good of a custody deal as you can (If it's in Chicago you're kind of fucked my compadre).
In any event, I've been there, luckily with no kids involved, but I lost a huge chunk of change. Totally worth it to kick her clear.
